Hi y'all, I found this lovely Eureka at a Goodwill a few weeks ago. It looks to have been very lightly used and is very clean inside and out. I'm guessing it's mid-1980s vintage going by the plastic handle and molded grip. Interestingly, it has a 6-amp motor instead of the usual 4.8-amp motor in these models. It is very powerful and easy to use.

I'm kind of jealous! :-)

Good find! It really does look like it came out of the box. Even the US Steel Industry logo sticker on top of the hood looks pristine (which is neat, since it hearkens back to a time where manufacturers took pride in US manufacturing, something way before my time).

I have to stay out of Goodwill and other thrift stores or else I will get in trouble with my wife. She is of the opinion that every household only needs one vacuum cleaner and, like other Millennial women, that Dysons are the bee's knees and vacuums like my Kirby, Royal and Sanitaire F&G uprights are outdated and not cool (though she will not deny that they work so well. Hmmmm.).

It's not just vacuum cleaners, it's older PCs, desk/floor/box fans, small appliances, etc. (though as far as old PCs go, they make it easy for me to curb my impulse buys on those since they send all the ones older than, say, a Core 2 Duo off to recycling. Something like a 286/386/486 or the original Pentiums that I am after to start a collection have no chance in the world for resale, sadly, because they believe that they are too outdated to be useful and forget that people do collect these things).

If I stop into a Goodwill, I'm bound to find something like this for a such a stupid low price that I couldn't refuse. That's how I obtained my Kirby Sentria ($20 with ALL attachments and in A-1 condition, with just a little oxidation that Mother's polish couldn't fix) and my Royal 884 (in very good condition for its age, with not so much as a scuff on the vinyl bag, though the Royal logo has peeled off). I could not say no--no matter how hard I rationalized (eh, I have a perfectly good Sanitaire at home, wife will think I'm hoarding, etc.)--in both cases, the thought of the fact that these may be bought by somebody who didn't know what they were getting or how to use and care for it (and promptly thrashing them like they were disposable once they brought it home/throwing it away once something as simple as needing a new belt came up) really motivated me to say "Yes" and wheel them towards the checkstand.

Please, please, please don't tell me that these are the first developing signs of hoarding, lol!

The hoarder's mantra:

"I may need this someday."
