I have a beautiful model 65 convertible bag with no tears and is still very soft! But age has taken its role on the zipper it’s starting to pull away from the vinyl jacket, can the entire zipper be replaced and the bag still look real nice? I’ve never daveled in zipper replacements before.
Thanks everybody

Why don't you try taking to a dry cleaning place that does alterations? I had one replace zippers on several of my jackets, they maybe able to replace a zipper on your vinyl jacket to your vacuum.

Assuming it is sewn on (a picture would be helpful), it can most likely be replaced. There are lots of places to buy sewing notions, so look for something that will fit the specifications. Also buy some good polyester based thread to go with it.
Do you know any retired folks you could hire (or help out as barter)? I had my mom stitch up the inside door pulls of a car I had restored and she did great. In return I had fixed her kitchen faucet...

If the zipper metal parts are still ok and functional, and it's just the strip of fabric with the zipper on it that's coming unstitched from the bag, it would probably be a simple affair to sew it back to the bag.

If not, all kinds of zippers are available. And any tailor or someone good with a sewing machine would be able to help you.

I don't own a sewing machine I can do it. My mom did sew. In fact I'm probably going to buy a machine. I'm awesome at sewing I sewed my fingers when I was 12 in a class. If I can see myself you can see a zipper. If you were frugal and careful you could use fishing line see by hand.

No where near all of my outer bags have their original zipper anymore I can photo several examples and show where like if I cut out the old zipper teeth.
All it takes is patience and the results end up amazing me.
