Hey there! Yesterday was a good day to shop used Elux vacuums , I bought two of them!

I first bought an AP-280 that the seller would let go because the cord was half broken at the plug. It was a two minute-fix, that machine works great.

The second one is a 89 model, pictured here with its rear filter (both sides). The machine performs quite well for its age (50 years or so) but it smells a bit like mildew when operated and I figure it has been used in a basement for years and years without changing the rear filter.

Do you know if these filters are still available and were (preferably in Canada) I could find some ?

Other than that, the cord reel works poorly with a grinding noise, I figure it would need some light grease.

For the AP 280 filters are available at Canadian tire , other filter media could b e cut to fit the model 89 .

THanks Antoine, I don't have any problem sourcing filters for the AP models.

FOr the ZB89 I actually thought I could cut a felt sheet, like the one used in drawers to make them more quiet, is this what you were thinking about as a proper material ?

Great idea ! I just found a vacuum parts store in Montreal, on the web, I just send them an email about filters for the ZB89 Elux,if they don't have any I will go with your suggestion.

I just drilled the rivet to remove the front wheel, it almost looks like it was made by the Flintstones.

I just get a 2 pack of Renaissance after filters and cut them to fit my Electrolux 60 which uses the same type of filter.

Here is the company I found in Montreal, they sell the square filters I need, roughly 5$ a pack of 2, plus shipping I guess.

Front wheel fixed with a generic wheel I found at Home Hardware, a bolt I cut at right length, two thin washers inserted between the wheel and the bracket, and a locknut. Approximate cost: 2.50$

I would have preferred a green wheel though, but I'm satisfied with the result and the ease of rolling the machine now.

Since my last post, someone at Johnnyvac suggested I should order somewhere else to save shipping cost and redirected me to a local dealer who could supply the rear square filters for my ZB89, 25 km from my place.

Good guy!
