The new quantum upright water vacuum!

That vacuum does look nice, but a few flaws it has would stop me from buying it.

The water tank looks REALLY small - a person using it would be constantly stopping every 10 to 15 minutes to dump & refill the water tank if they were cleaning a large, normal family home with lots of dirt from pets & kids. Also, with regards to the hose & tools, they look nice, but what's their excuse for not having a second stretch hose wrapped around the back of the vacuum to attach on the back like the long hose does & a couple of tool holders for a upholstery tool & dusting brush? Consumers do prefer canisters & uprights with a onboard hose & tools, it will take someone special to deal with having to go back to the closet & drag out a hose & tools like Kirby makes you do. Where's the HEPA filter? Nowhere in the photos am I seeing a exhaust HEPA filter. That's a HUGE design flaw! We all know & it's a PROVEN FACT that water does NOT filter as well as all these water vac companies claim. There's a reason why Rainbow added a HEPA filter onto the E Series in the late 1990's, & why most of their competitors incorporate one somewhere in their design. That is something a allergy sufferer will take into consideration before deciding to buy. And while the floor brush looks nice, they should have designed one with wheels like the one used on the Sebo Felix. Sure, the generic floor brush they provide would clean floors well, but the problem using it on a upright is it won't make the vacuum stable if a person has to answer the phone, they stop using it & stand it up for a few minutes. It would be more likely to fall to the ground if it isn't propped up against something. That's a flaw that consumers will come to hate & bitch about in reviews.

The product does look nice, & I'm sure some people will like it. For my money, though, it still needs some further development & refinement before I would be willing to buy it.

Checkrate/Likes So for those of you who know me from my YouTube, you would know that I had a quantum canister vacuum that I returned. I bought it in high hopes of it being worth the money, however, owning my rainbow already made me have buyer's remorse. Especially having spent as much as I did on it, and the performance was "decent". Well I'm still subscribed to intellicleans (quantum owner) mailing list and news. They emailed me today to be the preorder the new quantum upright! It looks phenomenal in styling, and boy do I want it!!!!! What do you guys think!?!?! Photos... < > Photo 1 of 2 View Full Size

Checkrate/Likes 3 The real question is: does it have a separator? Without a separator it will be a huge mess to clean. It's an interesting design, but you have to slosh the water back and forth as you move the machine back and forth constantly.

Checkrate/Likes The YouTube video that I was sent as a link in the email shows the separation. I'm not sure if it has a separator, however the water looks very forceful in the chamber when they show it running.

Checkrate/Likes *I was thinking the same thing* You have the water (weight) sitting on the handle, sloshing around as you are moving it through the house. Don't see how it could lay down to clean under things without spillage. My prediction, it will be a mess.

Checkrate/Likes Hope its not like a Thermax on a stick. I notice that the water capacity is 1 1/2 quarts (less than the amount needed by a 1937 Rainbow). Also, the water sits low in the tank, with lots of room above (like a non-separator water vacuum). I'll bet there's no separator (although I could be wrong). If it wasn't such a chore to return it, I would order one just to see how it was made. I love the blue color.

Checkrate/Likes I could never picture a water filtration working as an upright. Too much weight and moving around vs a canister type machine. It looks quite cheap too. Although the attachments look nice and have good horsehair bristles.

Checkrate/Likes I bought the canister just to try it, and returned it pretty easily. It seems like quantum is here to stay though. Id probably still try it out without the separator. It's very unique, and I'd love to see how it does. I don't like how the nozzle extends and makes the bottom of the vacuum longer, kind of silly looking. There was a "vagua" upright stick that used water as well that sold on hsn and got terrible reviews. However, in my quantum video in the comments I posted that when I called to return my model, they told me to stay tuned because they intended on releasing an upright. Well I guess they are lol. I believe it's only available for those who have dealt with, or have their email newsletters. Otherwise you have to wait for it's release. This is a preorder option.

Checkrate/Likes *I'm ordering one* I'll be damned, Quantum answered my question about the upright and a separator. Apparently it DOES have a removable separator just like the canister version. That's why you're able to almost lay it down on it's side to go under low furniture. They were so nice with their answer I decided to order one and give it a try. It's a "pre order" because they won't ship until March or April.

Checkrate/Likes *quantum and Rainbow* Actually I think the performance of the Quantum is very good, actually better than a Rainbow, it gets the dirt in to the water better than a Rainbow does. I love my Quantum, much cheaper than a Rainbow and just as good if not better. I have no interest in the upright since I'm not an upright person but as far as I know this is the first water filtration upright. I'm actually thinking about getting the current model Ocean Blue. Tom is right, avoid any water vac without a separator, it would be a mess to clean. Mike

Checkrate/Likes Great Vacs has brought back the Ocean Blue, and at a very reasonable price ($500). Ironic that the Ocean Blue is also available as the BluGren vacuum on eBay. It's kind of ugly. It's the same vac, but in ugly blue and yellow(green). Yukk.
