I had to make a return at B.B.B. this morning, so I was at the door when they opened at 10:00am this morning...
.
After making my return I headed over to the clearance section as I always do, and what do I find but 3-Miele Canister Cartons with various clearance labels on them...
.
Most were the $599.99 C2 Electro canisters marked down to $399.99... which to me is not a bargain...
.
Then there was one carton that was marked from $299.99 down to $79.99... I figured it would be a beat up piece of crap - The carton was falling apart on one end... I could see it was a Miele Compact C1 Pure Suction Vacuum in White that looked to be in good shape... I noticed it had all the tools, holder, wand, and hose and figured what the hell... If it was beat to crap I would just return it...
.
I picked up the other items I also stopped in for, and headed to the register... I know that Miele is one of the brands that you can not use a 20% coupon on... The cashier finished ringing me up, and I ask what coupons I should use... She tells me to give her 5-20% coupons - My total of five items included the Miele... She took the 20% of with out blinking... So I got a Miele for $63.99...
.
I get home and open the carton to start unpacking and nearly fell over - It was new and had never been used... There was NO dirt in the bag - It was snow white inside - There was no Dirt on anything - What's stranger is that it had a new HEPA Filter installed, and the clean air filter and cage were in the carton as well - Along with an extra dusting brush...
.
I can not for the life of me figure out why it was marked down so far...
.
I have no use for it, but was not leaving it for $63.99...
.
For me I just can not leave something behind that is a great bargain - Last week they had Drones on sale that were $49.99 and 90% off so $5 each, plus she took 3-of my $5 off $15 coupons as well - So I got 10 of the drones and will give most of them away to anyone I know that has kids...
.
God knows I still have four of the Hoover Air Revolves on the shelf in the garage, along with the NIB Eureka 6980 that I just purchased... This will go back into the box until I find someone who can use it...

I will let the picture to speak for themselves...
.
Dan

Once I was at Kmart and saw a friend and her mom shopping. She had a Bissell spot bot pet (175$) in her cart. I said to her for that price, I'd buy a whole upright unit. She then told me the worker scanned it and it was 34.99! There were two left! I wasn't letting that pass by! I didn't even care if they are not super powerful. They make great wedding gifts!

Nice!

The price you paid lets you know just how much the store buys stuff like that for wholesale. Besides, it was probably just marked down because of the damaged box, and kept getting marked down until somebody bought it. If you don't want it, you could always sell it on craigslist for a neat little profit!

The Miele C1 came out in 2015 according to YouTube videos. Most People don't go to BB&B for a vacuum, so I am sure that that Miele was old stock that was never bought and just got shuffled around the store for the past 4 years or it was found in a warehouse cleanup and put out for sale. Also someone likely opened it in-store to look at it and then decided they didn't want it.

Going into big box stores around after Christmas and spring when they are re-cataloging inventory can be quite amazing to see what old junk they found in the backroom that they pull out and are trying to hawk a price for. I've found 15 year old digital cameras on Walmart's clearance table before they were trying to get $80 for, and the boxes were so faded and beat up.

This design of C1 is the old design from about 10 years ago. The new C1 models use the bigger bag.

I was told that these older models are now made in China. Does the ratings label say “Made in PRC”?

Yes, the Compact C1 is Miele's S4 series in drag. But they're now made in China and still use Miele's FJM bag. At $63.99 you got a super deal!

Thanks Oreck XL! I think Miele is making the old S5 in China too - you see promotional sales for these in Canada, too.

So it turns out that it is "Assembled in China from components of Germany and China" - But the build quality still seems to be up to Miele's High standards...
.
What was surprising is that it was only Manufactured on 10/2018 - It really is brand new -
The one thing I don't understand is the rating with and without power nozzle - This one does not accept a power nozzle because it does not have a power nozzle socket on it...
.
I read the the motor is the same Vortex German Miele Motor as in all the other canisters... Anyone know if this is true...
.

Likely that sticker gets put on models with or without the power nozzle outlet option.

Nice! And I thought that I got a sweet deal with my C2 Electroplus marked down to $300 from $600 at BB&B. Mine was also due to the box being damaged.
