I went to a flea market today and there were two vacuums, right next to each other. One was a teal Hoover Runabout style Elite for $5. The other was a Fantom Fury. It was a later model I could tell because of the headlight lens and I think it was black with a kind of beige headlight and trim. I think it may have said "Special Edition" on it. There were no attachments, and no price on it. Rarely do you see Fantoms here. I remember seeing one of the old black and green Furys at Habitat about 10 years ago.

There's been one on craigslist near Chicago for some time, bit pricey though. Are they really that rare? Or just around you...?

I've been collecting 2 years and never seen a Fantom.

I don't know if they're rare in general, but here it seems to be the case. I remember one of my neighbors used to have a Thunder back when they were new (late 90s). Other than seeing that Fury at Habitat, I did see an early 11 amp Thunder (from when they were just called Fantom) at a flea market about 5 years ago. I also MIGHT have seen a Lightning at Habitat once but if so it was ages ago.

So I'd say other than when I saw them brand new on the shelves at Kmart, I've seen 3 maybe 4 over the years now.

That Thunder in that link looks great. I always liked the ones with green trim best. The one I saw yesterday seems to be a Limited Edition from the early 2000s before they closed.

If I had the same encounter, I would have offered $10 for the pair, but I really like both of those machines. We all have different tastes.

Of the two, the Fantom is more valuable, especially because it is a Special Edition.

Thanks for sharing!

I wouldn't have minded having them, but I'm running out of space. And I don't want my new car to get full of vacuums in the trunk like my old one. LOL

I still find Fantoms fairly regularly around here, I just bought one for $6.99 at a thrift store a month ago. I usually only buy Thunders because they’re better made
