I'm in the process of restoring this vacuum and need a source for the missing hand grip and beater bar.
Thanks
Ron

Im pretty sure yours uses square end 14 inch.
I'll provide links to the ones I got for mine. They do fit and work.
Les

Is the fan okay on the vacuum. Ben kindly found one to fit mine and I looked everywhere.
I also used led lights. I added pics. The second pic is a little longer. The first one took 3 weeks to get. Someone mentioned Lowe's carrying them. Sylvania 1650 is bulb number for regular light.
If you need belts Kirby belts work.
Hopefully your vacuum comes out of well.
I have only had 2 days off in last 2 weeks. I polished but haven't found solder gun to finish mine.
If you have any pics of wiring I'd appreciate it. Im mainly concerned about 2 carbon brush wires but any wiring pics would help.
Les

Lesinutah, Thanks for the handle link. My brush housing is only 13 1/4", so the 14 " one would be too big. I also have a center band location and the ends are rectangular and fit into, "U" brackets on the ends.
My Model 83 has no light on it.
I didn't take any photos of the wiring, I just made a diagram of the connections. I replaced the power cord as well as the handle cord to the motor due to age. The outer power cord insulation was cracked and the internal insulation was rock hard and cracked when flexed.
The wiring for the switch was as follows:
1. White from motor went to one side of the switch
2. White from power cord went to the other side of the switch.
3. Blacks from power cord and motor were spliced in the switch bay.
The original cords had the black wire as a white wire with black dots on it through out the length of wire. The white wire was all white.
I had no idea of the motor size so I used 16 gauge wire.

The fan was in decent shape. All of the fins were intact. There was some depressions on the back where the flat head screws loosened up an ate away some metal. After I test the motor I'll decide if I need to fill in those recesses. I put blue thread lock on the screws when I reinstalled them.

It says it's 14 but it we'll fit I know the good example is the Kirby brush rolls in 13in and the actual brush itself is 12 and 4 so they always added little bit of length but the 14th brush roll will fit because the two the vacuums that I have it say it fits the 13-inch with brushroll and major it's the same length that you mentioned but it will fit.
