 ~ My beloved old Griswald cast iron skillet with matching self-basting lid that I found many years ago in a thrift shop. Its inner surface was corroded, rusted and coated with a heavy layer of burned-on food and petrified oil. It's taken many seasonings over the years to bring it to the smooth, nonstick finish it now has. | ||

Nice work! Looks like it is ready for a few more decades of use! Now how did you clean off the petrified cooking oil? I have the worst of luck trying to get this off of vintage appliances.... Sanding is not an option in my cases, but could have worked on this skillet. | ||

Cleaning iron Run it thru a self cleaning oven and then season it, it will look like new. | ||
