Hey Guys!

Picked up a Kirby G5 the other day for $20. It's an 8.5 out of 10-just needs a good cleaning. I don't have a G5 in my collection that is all cleaned and shiny though I have several of them waiting in the wings.

My question is this: Did Kirby change the screw for the handle back plate to a black screw/washer type fastener on THIS model? In other words, it doesn't have the plastic screw in the matching color of the handle to hold the plate on.

I checked two - both had that black screw/washer rather than a cute, colored cap ...

I noticed that as well previously, wondered if it was just this model, seems like a step backwards.

Regarding the metal black screw...

I thought the same! Seems like they were trying to cut corners somewhere. OR, it could have been a supply/manufacturing issue that needed another alternative.

The all plastic matching screw first seen on G-3s--

--would often break off leaving the threaded portion, that was somewhat difficult to dig out, in the metal handle. The all metal screw solved this.

So, ...

So, you mean to say that all of them came with the matching plastic screw but once broken off were replaced with the metal black washer/screw?
