Hi knowledgable folks...
Looking to buy a new 13 inch brush roll for my Kirby Heritage - with stiffer than usual brushes... Does anyone know if this is possible? The one I currently have in, only has a single row of brushes on each side and I find it ineffective... (I received this one as part of a tour of the brush roll manufacturer back in 2015 I believe when we did the Kirby Convention) Therefore I'm looking for something a little more aggressive... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Steve. |

I upgraded to the newer Wooden Four-bar Brushrolls this year.
They're readily available everywhere. It's a big improvement on the old Grey Two-bars, but that's just because you get two beats at the same area of carpet in the same time. As for stiffer bristles, I haven't seen any. I presume you'd lower the softer Brushroll further into the carpet for a more-aggressive beating, but that would probably wear the belt, bearings, and bristles that much quicker. You could try the Rug-renovator head? Without the shampoo tank etc. The Floor-polisher head is really stiff. It will pull the fibres out of most carpets, but that may be the kind of power you're looking for? As a one-off, interim solution, that may work. |

yes, but the 13" 4 row brushroll was discontinued 5 years ago. you might find one new old stock, but they wont be cheap or easy to find. they were really only used in comvac 1300's in any quantity. once those were discontinued, the only ones that used them were like your machine.
kirby NLA'd this brushroll because so few people ordered them. the 2 row brushroll for 13" head (500 series-d80 and heritage small head) that kirby makes today is plenty effective as it uses roller bearings and has the same bristles as the classic omega- heritage II brushrolls. |

Steve,
Yes, you can buy the 500505 brush roll but you will have to look around because of how limited current supplies of it are. ~Ben This post was last edited 12/18/2018 at 18:59 |

Have two on their way!
Bill was kind enough to contact me within moments of me posting this thread and has got two of the 4 row ones coming. I'll have a spare for when the time comes or perhaps (if it fits - most likely) one for my DS80 - which never gets used... Thanks for your input everyone... Cheers Steven. |
