To my surprise a huge sentria box came via FedEx. It was from South Carolina. It's my American Lincoln super sweep 180. It's in really good shape. The one thing is the bag where emtor goes is a beotch to put bag on. I'm a big burly guy and it's hard. The bag is like old eureka bags but alot thicker material. The bag topper is exactly like d80 bag topper. The metal bag holder im not positive of material but it's rust resistant. The power cord is thick. Imagine a heavy duty extension cord and it's thicker than that. The handle is exactly like d80 so with no back just painted. Handle is exactly size of d80 too. I. The bag the f&g plastic coupler is sewn to vinyl bags. Imagine inside a royal bag they use material the same as the bag to attach f&g coupler. This is the same except it's like it's sewn on. The bag connector or coupler that connects to exhaust it feels like powder coated. The nozzle cap is hard rubber not brittle very strong. It has directions of how to put belt on if cap pops off. It has black heritage wheels power switch trim is just like a d80. It has cut out on bottom where you would run the safety switch wires. It's the older lights used up to d80 I believe classic had first model had same bulb. The person said the bulb was bad he just had newer one post bulb. The paint is very thick. The vacuum is very sturdy and put together with heavier duty parts than d80. I don't know if it has a d80 motor it feels very strong. I would guess close to Omega or tradition motor than d80. It seems more powerful than tradition by feel. It's easy to move. It picks up really well for an 18" brush. The handle seems maybe heavier metal than other handles. There's not as much bend so to say when lining up putting pin on for handle. It would be a very good commercial vacuum. If they had a commercial division and devoted sales team I think it would have succeeded. I think a Kirby service center got no extra incentive to push commercial. I believe they would have made better machines than royal or sanitairre. Oh the fan is grey lexan. The vacuum would be a leader in commercial had it run correctly. But here is some pics. Les | ||

Christmas certainly did come to you early in the case of this! Yes, I knew about the fan being the then-current gray Lexan type going by the timeframe this was sold: from 1982 to 1984. I think the same Sanitronic VII armature and field are used here, or perhaps an improved version of it (as it says 4.5 amps on the nameplate on the bottom). I know, because all of the Royal commercial metal uprights, to compare, used all the same armatures and fields as their household equivalents. There are, of course, some extra parts involved to jibe the third (ground, colored green) wire to the motor assembly. I know that the foot switch is a bit different, as it is one that supports a 3-wire cord. ~Ben This post was last edited 12/15/2018 at 19:46 | ||

I’m probably just as excited as you are! Thank you for posting all of the pictures. I was very interested to see it’s build against the ComVacs... there are a lot of similarities. I’ll say that since I’ve been using the ComVac, it is really a different beast. It’s a lot stronger (performance and build) compared to D80, gen 2 machines. I’m glad to read that you’ve noticed that too. These are special machines and I’m really happy to hear that it arrived without any issues. The belt cap on the ComVac is the same - has the directions stamped on it. Let me know more about it as you start using it more. Chris | ||

I used it and the bag blew off. On f&g setups they use wire to hold in couplers. I didn't tighten wire to much because I didn't want to tear nylon bag. I'm going to buy 2-3" hose clamps and use them.
I vacuumed and ala heritage it was being a rug sucker. I put a heritage micro matic on tradition and it helped the rug sucking. I may put one on this too. It really grooms carpet nicely. The 18" brush roll is impressive. It kind of vacuums similar to 880 royal with same amps. They both feel more powerful than 4.5 amp. I found an odd ball site. It had a green janitronic super sweep nozzle, a white handle similar to mine and original bags used for vacuum. I ordered 1 of each. I highly doubt they have these items but if they do score. I'm not holding my breath. A place just having a janitronic nozzle that's 50 years old seems very unlikely. Meh I get money back or a sweet rare setup. Les | ||

Les,
Yes, as far as I can tell. Their website: www.vacpartsplusstore.com/catalog... Yes, all parts they have for your Super-Sweep are in limited quantities given that it has not been produced since 1984; however, it does take the same Kirby belts which are no problem to find. Good luck on seeing if they actually do have those discontinued parts you just ordered! ~Ben | ||

It has bag collar and cloth is circular coming into the bag. Cloth had 2 wires twisted on bag collar and f and g collar. The f and g collar is permanent but I think bag collar the circular coupler connecting to the exhaust had wire twited around the cloth spiral like a bread tie tightened on exactly like royal bag setup. The difference is royal coupler is non removesble and bag attachment part is removable.

Update
The vacuum came with way I thought 2 belts. No one goes around bag collar holding it on. I used a towel and channel locks the bag will not come off again. The f&g bag I had a Baird meter spring I used it.
So no more blow offs just 18" of Kirby rug sucking power. Oh the janitronic nozzle it didn't pan out. I thought it wouldn't but didn't hurt to try. Les
