Cumbersome and then some.

So, after having been enjoying all of my Electrolux collection over the past few months, I decided to use my Z400 on my rugs.

Needless to say, it's quick loss of suction when dusting with it and using on bare floors with the floor brush (while it's in Cansiter position) make it a last choice to grab as a daily driver, but I had never vacuumed carpet with it, since I got it YEARS ago, and thought I'd see how it performed.

It is a behemoth to steer. Along with a low center of gravity, it's two fixed wheels in the rear with sharp inner edges provide no way to easily glide this anywhere.

The handle bracket (holding the handle to the base with a cheap plastic slider lock) made creaking and cracking sounds a few times (while trying simply vacuum the rugs) indicating regular use would snap something plastic if used often, even as intended. It's fragility there on a crucial connection area is another fatal flaw along with the permanent Hepa filter (that stinks, and I mean stinks up the house!).

I was actually impressed with it's performance in Upright position. The motor sound and the brushroll sounds are muted and a pleasant pitch. It felt like a strong capable machine, and the fast accumulation of wool carpet fibres almost filled the bin but because of the fluffy texture did not lower suction significantly at all during the entire time I used the machine.

I think coming out with this model to compete with Dyson pushed Maytag who owned Hoover at the time, but vacuums were still being produced in Hoover factories, to sell the Hoover division to Whirlpool who I dont think developed or released any new vacuums and then they finally sold off to the first Chinese owner, therefore making this the last American designed/made Hoover upright/cansiter ever, if I'm not mistaken. If I am, please do correct me!

So, in the end, before I put it away for a few months, I thought I'd do a photo shoot with it. I opened it up into Upright position and then lowered it to lay flat. It's a huge machine lengthwise when you do that. Very impressive visually. I was in a Christmas mood, so it ended up in deep green and red tones... so I call this one:

Checkrate/Likes 1 When I saw that picture, I thought my phone was having a stroke! Also, yeah, the Z400 looks cool, but is not a very good or practical vacuum cleaner.
