Same price as its model number!
It looks a lot better than mine did but I liked the price of my one better. The Duster seems to be the only Hoover where there is no distinction between US and Canadian body serial numbers: This is model 200 1156896, mine (Marked as an empire product for made in Canada) is 115561. Normally a Canadian Hoover has an H for Hamilton in the body serial. The motor number on mine has an HM prefix but that's it. CLICK HERE TO GO TO Scoover's LINK on eBay

Just to confuse things a little, here's a picture of vintagehoover's Minor 200 serial number (the Duster was sold in the UK as the Minor, er that is apart from mine which was sold as a Duster although its got a higher serial number than this Minor...) what was going on?

Something very strange seemed to have happened with the Duster/Minor. I don't understand why Hoover produced it at all given how quickly they deleted it from their home market. I wonder if they thought they were onto a winner, struggled to sell them and used the US made bodies they'd stockpiled for all markets.
No way of knowing I suppose. I do like them though, quirky isn't the word for it. Great website BTW. |
