Hey I was a local thrift store inb linec it to the vacuun. There was a pre sanatronic Kirby. It had a black handle. It had the toggle switch red belt lifter correct trim. It's emtor and nozzle are flawless very clean. It had original cord. Everything was oiginal except d80 Kirby bag.
It is a 509 with original six blade fan. I took to car wash to use their vacuum to clean out shakeout bag. I shookiy and vacuumed out of nozzle motor everything. If I washed the bag it would look.brand new. It does now just final deep clean. I wipe down black marks using steel ool in certain areas. It only cost m $15. Here is some pics Les |

Thanks
Yes I plan to fully restore it. The inside of the emtor is in brand new shape no stains dings or blemishes. The nozzle is the same way. I switched out headlight hood already. I ran it and vacuumed today with it and almost every vacuum has a slight bearing wind down. This has no wind down. It sounds like my 510 I put new motor armature bearing everything except a fan The cord slight issue just heat shrink should fix it. I have to disassemble light sanding and polish will be pretty easy. The hardest will be taking headlight trim off old headlight. I'll drill out rivets and put it in boiling water will go on easily. I also have a 2 505,'s and a 508. They are all in pretty similar condition. I plan to do all at once. I have a electric power washer I bought. I used it on my 1949 royal (same age as my 509. I spray everything down. I'll post a pic of it. The Motor housing and everything grease came off. I may take the handito a auto interior location and see if they can repair original handle. The 508 and some 509 handles are like afoam grip and deteriorate quickly. I have only seen 2 on this site. One was in worse condition other was in worse shape. It's even more rare than a belden cord. How is your restore going? |
