I assembled some but the blower port I couldn't find. Good to know about the filters.
Your vacuum underneath the bag is clean. I have the same white hose and clear sparkly attachments. I like your color better than my grey pupon mustard color.
Calling it a tank is a accurate description of the vacuum it feels like cast iron. If someone broke ib your house throw the vacuum at them there wouldn't get up. If you vacuum stairs don't have it at the too of the stairs. It's got loads of power too.
I'll have pics tommorow powerhead tbd.
Thanks
Les

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I replied to your message.
I got filter changed and blew out vacuum and cleaned it up but it was in pretty good shape. The attachments I put in tub and used shower head sprayer. I used vacuum to blow dry as good as possible now they are air drying the rest of the way.
The 2 bag filters were bad I sprayed as much as I could but they were bad. I washed to them in washing machine. They are air drying. So I'll be using tommorow with all attachments cleaned new and clean filters. Thanks again compactguy.

Hey
I cleaned the vacuum and attachments up. 3 things the motor plastic housing to hold the filter must have been original I put in new filter and took off to take a pic and it's cracked. I have a new one ordered.
2. The hose has a 8" in section smashed a little. I may use head gun use an inch PVC pipe to fix it.
3. The exhaust blower port cap has a few cracks in pic right above my thumb. I'm going to usee goo glue and glue it should fix that. It does have slight black color by where you put hose but I want to know what I could use to clean it maybe steel wool I'm not sure.
I watched a few of compaq9guys YouTube videos. Bye nice videos.
I have not got the power head but 7.5 amp is impressive. The blower port feels stronger than my sentria blower.
I watched how to disassemble vacuum video. It was a vacuum shop owner I believe he posts here but don't recall his name.
I'm going to try and find carbon brushes for it. When I do I will dissaesemble the vacuum. I'll use my new karcher power sprayer and clean everything very well and also use commuter Stone on commuter and test coils.
I will wait a little to do this.
I have researched quite a bit and the motor is a lamb motor may have been GE but it is same company just changed there name.
I have one question. The exhaust port people put on this cone filter but I will not. Shop vacs have a generic foam polyurethane filter for them. I was going to take cap from exhaust cut pattern out and maybe use some small clip or wire to hold onto filter cap. I believe this would filter sufficient and not bog motor down with back pressure.
Anyway I found this vacuum is a work horse and standard for all canister vacuums. It has cyclonic technology and great bag system. If I counted correctly I have 72 bags. I am waiting on filters but I ordered a few. I believe I I good for 5 years plus on supplies.
I may rebuild power nozzle or maintenance it depending on brush roll and belt wear. I have 3 belts for power nozzle.
Well I have wrote quite a bit. Td like to thank Antoine (compactc9guy) I believe it is Antoine for his excellent help. I acted a fool and ended up with a great fellow vacuum friend who is the guru of compact/interstate vacuums. He helped me find vacuum on eBay. I asked seller to drop price from$175 to $125 and they did. I got best compact off eBay at a killer deal. I got all info I'll ever need so thanks again compactguy.
I have about 25 vacuums. I think this vacuum I can focus on and finish all other machines and sale or keep.
This vacuum is more than I needed to. I'm very greatful for everyone helping me it's been a tough few months. I lost my job got a new job. I lost my mother at 58 years young November 2. It sent me in a tailspin. I'm coming up and leveling out. I'm happy my mother is done suffering and in piece. I have a job with a bright future. This vacuum curbed my need for my vacuum adddiction under control. It goes to show things happen for a reason. I'd like to thank the board for putting up with my attitude. I was in some cases overbearing. A good example was my idiotic post on car air filters. Oi I sounded like a trolling clown. Thanks again everyone mostly compactguy9.

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
Thanks for the kind words.
I showed my wife the vacuum and she loves it. She got a small pet kennel with carpeting like a cars rear floor mat caked in dirt. I put cyclonic head and one pass three total covering mat once it was hair free. She was amazed. When done the mat kept hold of the mat with the suction. She had to pull it off nozzle. She said"wow that's a lot of power."
I told her about power nozzle.
She wants to vacuum with it now.
So it's a keeper and wife loves it. Thanks again for everything. Glad to be happy vacuuming again. Good health to you and your family.

question quickly did u get the hose to better shape or is it still smash.
Now , this is an electric hose so cutting is out of the equasion due to the wires . put a tube inside the hose or a lonng wand heat the hose try to re mold it in to shape maybe??

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I used the vacuum doing about 2500 SF. The air circulated fixed the hose. I think it was slightly kinked when shipping. I was looking for semi smashed part and it was gone. The hose feels brand new. You can tell when hoses have been worn and this looks new.
Someone about 40 miles away is giving away a vacuum with a blown motor. The badge says interstate and has serial number. It is for free. She has power nozzle hose etc. If in a few days she still has it I may go pick up. The motor swap would be easy.
I I looked at floors I vacuumed today and there still clean. It's got alot going for it. The power blower suction power and rotating wheels make this vacuum easy to love. This has been added to daily driver with my sentria replacing my shark. I may make a shoulder strap to use on my stairs. I carried it up the stairs and it's no Kirby actually not that heavy.
Thanks again.
Les

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I got the power nozzle. It was gosh awful. It looks like it was never used the brushroll is brand new. There is no wear on the bristles. I took it apart scrubbed it to deatth. It looks like it was outside in a box. It had bugs all over. I cleaned it up. It is like a tech drive. The vacuum pushes itself. With the nozzle pushing across carpet by itself it makes it much quicker vacuuming. It also ois everything up. I like it more and more.

Nice buy on the Compact. Those vacuums are REALLY powerful, & with a clean bag, will easily match or outclean any new canister on the market today.

Just so you know, your brushroll in your powerhead is NOT original & is not brand new. That Compact powerhead, as you know, is a rebadged Eureka Roto-Matic powerhead made in different names for different companies. When new, that powerhead would have had 2 brush strips & 2 red beater bars. Your brushroll is a original OEM TriStar replacement brushroll, not aftermarket, as the aftermarket ones are black, & it looks like it had some use but was well cleaned & taken care of before you received it. I actually prefer that powerhead over the TriStar powerhead they designed after this one, it seems the brushes protrude out the bottom plate a little bit more & agitate the carpet just a bit more. One thing though I would STRONGLY suggest doing, before it's discontinued, is order a spare internal powerhead hose to have on hand. Those internal hoses unfortunately do crack & split up from many years of use. If you really like it & want to keep it going for many years to come, might not be a bad idea. The other thing I would suggest doing is buy a pack of Kenmore 5055 HEPA Cloth bags to use instead of the single ply paper TriStar bags, just remove the cardboard collar, cut open the bag at the seam closest to the collar, & line the cloth bag with it. You will find the TriStar's filtration is MUCH BETTER, & they won't clog quite as fast & maintain airflow longer.

I personally would have bought a TriStar though, not a Compact. They put a bit more powerful motor in the TriStar CXL's, & the other problem is with the Compact, because the blower port is built into the metal body versus a plastic basket that is riveted in & meant to be replaced when worn, you are stuck to buying only the original Ametek motor the Compact & TriStar canisters came with new. You cannot modify the blower port on the Compact's body like you can the plastic blower basket on a TriStar, & therefore can't upgrade to a more powerful motor later on if desired.

Best of luck & enjoy your Compact.

Rob

I a gree the Compact and Tristar Cxl are strong performeres and built to Last, a life time .The filtration on my personal machine the blue C9 , whit enviro care bag cloth bag motor filter is quite amazing, n o suction loss , no air flow loss and it just keeps going and going. The long hose and cord are ideal for long cleaning time , not having to look fora socket to plug into .The light weight robust construction means it can take a beating and long term use .Also the added bonus of a power head / eureka style thank you Eureka btw.,adds the grooming and cleaning ability of the cleaner .
As mention the addition of the blower port is handy for clearing clogs or derbris if need be ,.All in all the Compact electra Interstate tristar cxl ex20 are strong capable cleaner and i sure love using mine .

I got my light for the eureka power nozzle. I got my vg2 for my compact power nozzle. I took off compact brush roll tried to put on vibra groomer but it needs a spacers on the end of the brush for belt. The spacer off compsct brush roll doesn't fit on vg2. I'm going to post pics.
Compact brush roll and spacer
Eureka power nozzle brush roll
Vg2 brush roll I'm missing a piece.

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I believe I figured it out. The TriStar replacement brush just have 2 inserts on the sides of the brush roll. One side has a 2 inch part sticking out 1-2 inches and a spindle for bell screws on.
The vg2 has a rod inside the entire length of brush roll.
I examined my vg2 on eureka power head. It has a different cap and rod petruedes same 1-2inchrs. The spindle fits on it's end.
The eureka vg2 and TriStar brush diameter of the shaft is different.
I need a longer shaft and a spindle for vg2.
I was going to put vg2 from eureka power head but it's not broke don't mess it up.
So I'm going to find exploded view of the brush rolls and order correct shaft and spindle. I believe the original brush roll would have swapped out but they replaced brush roll that's why vg2 doesn't fit.
I have used the eureka power head and it's a little more power than compact(eureka rebrand) power head.
I have filter on and tool caddy. The vacuum has more power. The filter before was loosely on. It would fall off if vacuum tipped. It's on and you spin it off. But it makes a big difference in airflow.
Les

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture
I had a riccar 8950 that motor went out. I saved the brush roll. It has a little spacer on it for the belt and clutch. I just cleaned out 2 rooms just have she'd left. I have a tote of 20-30 brush rolls. I believe I can use riccar spacer and use vibra groomer brush roll. I think a longer screw or something I can make vibra groomer brush roll work without buying anything else.
I'll show pics of what I come up with. I think just riccar brush roll added to vibra groomer will work. Its why I never throw away good brush rolls.
I used the compact power nozzle and the blue eureka. I think there the same power the difference was the filter. The eureka agitates a little better but compact more air did much better than before. There is only agitation a little better but the power is the same. Its refreshing to just have a vacuum that does everything good.
Thanks again for the help. I'll post pics if I can get vg2 brush working.
Les

A while back i stock up for 3 years worth of paper bags for all my vacuum . Havent gone through a store for bag in 6 months again ,, im laughing i maintain my 4 vacuum for 10 $ or so . Best thing i did was keep older brush and hoses and bags of older vacuum that i fix up or sell never know .

Exactly reason I do too. I go thrift store I see vacuum bags I buy them. They run .75-1.00 and if you buy online there 10 bucks plus. I got so many vacuum bags. I have alot of belts a coffee can full. I believe the compact belt is same as Kirby/royal belt.
I have a ton of carbon brushes bearings alot. have maybe a 10 year supply of bags for c9 I just need to stock up on motor filters.
I think I have a motor for compact if it dies.i can't even recall where I got it. It's anywhere from 8*-12 amp motor. Ametech lamb I believe.
We clean our wood floors with Bissell symphony. It uses distilled water and cleans tile and wood not getting wood soaked just cleans it well. We put a wax seal on every couple years. I may have to invest in a waxer like yours.
I only ordered 1yool caddy not 2 but I only use 3 at most attachments so it's perfect. It takes 15 seconds 2 or 3 times and I'm done I place cord in middle of vacuum area no unplugging. It is very convenient.

Thats what i did whit my Waxer its was my most expensive purchases some of my friend said a waxer for 1200$(all 3 floor brush polishing whool pads scrubbing pads rug brush waranty 5 years and motor waranty for life ) ur nuts i say my floors rugs wax washing my floor all done whit one machine .So no more mops bucket of water ect add it up i save .Works so well to warranty also made the price a bit higher but the 30 feet cord makes it easy to use ,and yes i have all the pads whit it shes full equip .
My Compact C9 has bags for years to come i made a new filter out of filter material i had at home cut to fit and voila .My electrolux were cheap too(my upright yard sale 20$ my canister ap 200 40 $) .All in all if i ever need anything i reach in my container and find what fits i have a new cord on my vacuum for free i had a spare . So all my 4 vacuum including my shopvac are all maintain for cheap and work like new gota love it old iron just built to last self taught repair man also helps .

Compact.

Hey well I offered $30 plus $20 shipping for a c8 and he accepted offer. Vacuum is okay shape. The exhaust cap I bought will go on it as it doesn't have one. I'll put new filters etc. I will tear apart vacuum cleaner up and reassemble. It has a hose basically ends are only good part rest of it crap hose. You mentioned that you did something for your hose. I need a hose so your suggestions on a hose.

No nothing is wrong. I just may use one in my vacuum she'd clean up area and blow out vacuums.
I wanted one for shop/shed and price was right.
Thanks for link.
I got my riccar brush roll. I took out internal shaft I cut off a half inch.
The vg2 caps have half circular holes for rod. I have to drill out full circle and everything will fit to make vg2 brush work.

Hola

I don't need power nozzle or power hose. If hose is shot. I'll put on another hose. The shop doesn't have lavish carpet. The blower part of c9 is way powerful. That has no power.

The seller said hose has no holes just dirty. I guess I can put lush carpet in shed. Even without power nozzle the pig would keep it spotless.

oh for sure a good hose bags filters and nozzle or rug tool would help in the shop for sure yes blower port is handy on a compact and suction is good for cleaning the house or shop or car.

I have little filter on exhaust cap. Is the smoke alarm HEPA filter necessary. It looks like it would cut airflow drastically.

That's what I thought. I'm just triple checking.
I cleaned and organized shed/shop(it's a 12x 12 shed. I have vacuum stored and organized with tools. It is replacing my big bulky shop vac. I have a basket for it's bags filters necessities and hose attachments ready for it. A pig for house a pig for my shop. Having 2 makes it easy to let go of other machines as this is master of everything.
