Before I went on my recent Watermatic search, I was really eager to get a Silver King. I think the bare bones filtration system is interesting, precisely because it is so simple! In my mind, it is an honest bag-less system. Plus, they look really cool. Anyhoo, what should have been a pristine unit got beat to snot in the post. Propers to GreatVacs for having an easy return system! I just wish they had packed it better. I can say the Arus Lux I got for my aunt from them a while ago came in great shape.

The moral of the story is use extra padding and feel free to ask others to do so as well!

Note that one of the casters was bent underneath the unit so it leaned and often didn't make contact with the floor.

I probably could have had a vac shop do it, but I didn't want to add expense on top of the purchase. I have already sent it back and received a full refund. The shipping was covered too. So, not a big loss to me, save for the time and that I don't have a Silver King!

Couldn't have they just sent you a reimbursement vacuum rather than returning it and ordering it again?

Those things are LOUD. I had a Blue Max Air 2000 a while back it's noise level is what made me give it up. It was like having an un-muffled central vac 8 feet away.

I've been tempted to buy some vacs from Great Vacs but I've heard too many horror stories about them.

I just used the return feature on eBay (they sell on there too) and let it go.

I turned mine on briefly, it did seem loud!  I'm fine with that though.

What other stories have you heard?

I actually live about 30 miles away from them. They've overall been terrific to me, I've not had any issues from them before.

great vacs

I have bought a few things from them and have nothing but good things to say about them. I bought a Miracle Mate canister from them, it came in great shape, I also bought an upgrade kit that allows a backpack vacuum to use an electric power nozzle. The one issue I had was when buying a backpack vacuum from them, UPS lost it, once they verified that UPS had lost the package, they sent me another one. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

My past experience has been good, and they are very friendly when you talk to them.  I figure it was a fluke.  But, no harm in requesting careful packaging!

If a vacuum that expensive arrived at my doorstep in that condition, I’d be spitting nails and breathing fire!

I had good experience with them with them.
I ordered a G4 but they were out of stock so they upgraded me to the Ultimate G Diamond Edition for free.

They accidentally sent me two spot cleaners instead of one shampoo and one spot cleaner and forgot the Zip brush so they made up for by sending me 6 extra of their HEPA bags (which are actually really good bags aside from the tighter collar) with the zip brush and shampoo.
