All I managed to dig up was this brief article from a magazine that mentions this model. Couldn't find any articles specifically focused on this model.

EUREKA BEGINS SHIPPING FIRST WHIRLWIND BAGLESS COMPACTS.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-Two WhirlWind Mighty Mite bagless canisters, one featuring HEPA filtration, are beginning to ship from Eureka.

The company also said several other models have earned the Good Housekeeping Institute's Seal of Approval.

The two straight-suction vacuum cleaners are the company's first compacts in this bagless series. The WhirlWind cyclonic lineup already covers several uprights, a full-sized canister and a stick vac. Earlier this year, the company introduced its lightest-weight upright and two others with larger, more convenient dust cups.

Both compacts were promoted as versatile -- useful for cleaning carpeting, bare floors, stairs and above-floor sites -- and easy to store.

The basic compact is model 3690. Features are said to include a 12-amp motor, a 20-foot cord, a deluxe floor brush, on-board tools and a blower port. The casing is translucent tangerine; the suggested retail price is $159.99.

Sealed HEPA filtration is offered on the 3695. This machine is rated at 10 amps, with the 20-foot cord, deluxe floor brush and on-board tools. It comes in a translucent greenish-pear hue with a suggested retail of $199.99.

These compacts follow by a few months Eureka's introduction of four Boss models: an Ultra Boss Mighty Mite, a Boss Power Plus upright with HEPA filtration and two Boss Power uprights.

The Good Housekeeping Institute seal was awarded to several models virtually across Eureka's product spectrum. Among its benefits, the seal gives users an additional warranty year.

Certified vacuum cleaners include the entire Eureka Limited Edition line. WhirlWind models are the original machines, the recent Big Cup units and the 6980 canister. Oxygen has three cited models, the 6994, 6997 and 6999.

Checkrate/Likes The deluxe upholstery nozzle you got with this cleaner is a classic Eureka Williams design. The design debuted way back in 1959 with the Eureka MobileAire canister vacuum!!! Such a cool piece of Eureka history you have there!!!

Checkrate/Likes I remember Sears sold a Kenmore badged version of that, I guess after the Fantom Lightning version was discontinued. So I'd say early 2000s too. I seem to also recall seeing one in a JCPenney catalog from that time, I'll have to check and see on that.

Checkrate/Likes 1 I sold tons of that model 6980 brand new in my Vacuum Shop. I always told people they were like a bagless Model G. Before you use it, obtain a hepa disposable bag from any brand of cleaner. Cut the Hepa bag open so it lays flat. Remove the foam pre-motor filter from your new 6980, and use it as a template to cut out filters of that exact size from the HEPA bag. Place the HEPA cut-out filter into the filter case, then place the foam filter. The idea is that any dirt that leaks from the foam filter will be trapped by the HEPA cloth, and not enter the motor. You'll be surprised at how much dust leaks through the foam and is caught on the 'made to fit' filter. Make sure the white 'made to fit' filter is closest to the motor when reinstalling the cyclonic chamber. Also, you attachment clip can ALSO fit on the handle of the cleaner, so your tools do not have to ride on the wand. Make sure the crevice tool points towards the rear of the machine.

It's funny - I remember someone saying that it looked like a Model G would if was made then (98-2000), and I think it was you that had originally said it back on the old "VACWEB.COM" forum - ( How is that for a blast from the past !!!) . I don't think I will use it, at least not right away - I am going to try to get another dirt bin from the UK where they are still sold - I don't want this one scratched up - I will take your advise for sure on the HEPA bag to protect the motor from dirt passing the foam filter - . It was so cool to find one new - I am sad about the box being ruined, but better to have the vacuum without the carton, then no vacuum at all !!! . Dan

Checkrate/Likes *Oh my Gosh!* This was the vacuum of my childhood, besides our Rainbow SE. My late mother loved this machine so much. Would you ever consider selling it? I would be very interested.

Checkrate/Likes I've never used one before but it definitely looks like a neat vacuum. I heard they've made a Sanitaire version of this before but I haven't seen one yet. Overall, I do like the looks of the Kenmore version the best.

I Love unusual and hard to find or rare vacuums and I also like colorful vacuums like this one. Thank you for sharing and sorry to hear your original box didn�t survive the shipment. Patrick

Checkrate/Likes Would love to see the original European Electrolux version. Does anyone in Europe have a picture? Or even a link to a TV advertisement on YouTube? One of the best features of the North American version is that great Eureka Express power nozzle. Don�t think it came with a power nozzle in Europe.
