And Happy Thanksgiving!
I was born in 1967, and I find myself doing the same thing. I like to have things around me that remind me of my youth, and what seemed like better times. My mom had two of the items on your list. A chrome Mixmaster, which is still in use. And the Hamilton Beach/Scovill electric knife, which she gave to my older brother. Both of those, along with a Sunbeam hand-held Mixmaster, with Burst of Power, are on my list to eventually own. I keep going back and forth in my mind as to what color hand-held I want. Green or gold. And, like Rob said: Please try to post a picture of your appliances. We love to see them! Barry |

My collection is nearly complete (he’s been saying for a decade).
It started when I first moved out of my parents house in the 90s. I picked up as many old 50s chrome appliances as I could find, bcz it looked great and it was dirt cheap. Percolators, toaster, breadbox with drawers for flour/sugar/coffee/tea, blender, electric knife, waffle iron, etc,... 30yrs later I was still using it all, so I kept going. Acme Juicerator, Westinghouse roaster (with stand), all the yellow ceramic dishes that came with it, a citrus juicer, a chrome deep fryer/steamer, Rogers Bros. silverware set, yellow florentine depression glass dishes/candle sticks/glasses/coffee cups,.., I even found a beautiful yellow & white fancy-a$$ tablecloth from the 50s with 8 napkins, new in the box. There’s more, of course, but I don’t want to brag. 😜 lol But honestly, it makes the holidays so much fun and that much more special when everything looks like a vintage Westinghouse Christmas advertisement and everything was made from scratch. But other than the depression glass, silverware, and tablecloth, everything else is what I use every day. I even had the first microwave once. I think it was an Amana radar range, all chrome. Something stopped working so, like a fool, I just threw it away. 🙄 |
