Hey
I found this on classifieds. I offered $20 and they accepted. I don't know model number but I've seen similar royals made in 40s or 50s. Any info would be appreciated.

Les,

Going by the outer bag graphics, I know this Royal to be from 1949 to 1955. I guess this one is a model 215. Neat it also has the original braided hose!

Hey

Thanks Ben for the info.
Royals with a hose are rare.
I'm going to probably get it Friday night. I have seen another member post a video on YouTube. It's the poster who I think has Christopher Walken as his avatar. Thanks again. Once I get it home I'll take a few pics.

Hey

Hello again
I'm on my way to pick up the vacuum. It's hour and ten minutes away. I was trying to get sanitairre wide path for $10 but seller is not answering. I'm not driving this far again.
The royal is a 1 owner vacuum owner. The hose is taped somewhere. The seller seems in her 60s and it's her mother's. She may have passed not sure. Well I'm 10 minutes away. Messing around on my phone as I'm a paranoid front seat driver.
Pics will be on later today. If sanitairre seller messages me I'll post it but not likely.

I got the vacuum. It's in descent shape. The pics of the cord I put tape on end so I could turn it on. The wires were Barre and I didn't want them touching potentially ruining vacuum. The hose is in good shape. The where attachments go is taped but I can fix that. The brush roll is toast.
I turned it on and the motor has sit for a long time. The springs on carbon brush popped out. Carbon brushes are dried stuck to motor or completely gone. I shit it off immediately.
I just need brushroll which I already have. I also have carbon brushes. I'm going to put heat shrink on cord fix that issue. It has a small hole in the bag. I'm probably going to glue a patch on. I'm not going to do much to the bag.
It's a model 235 c? If I read serial number right is 1947.
The widepath didn't work out.
If you go to the supermarket section Larry Reddy has an 880 royal. I bought it instead of an avalir.

Les,

Not quite. I've noticed the nameplate indeed says "Royal Vacuum Cleaner Company" instead of "The P. A. Geier Company" (which it was known as until 1949), so therefore your cleaner would date from 1949 to 1953 and the black and red "lady bug" bag (with the red R-O-Y-A-L lettering on the black part) I see does match!

About that 880 you bought from larryeddy: I suppose that makes two 880s that you own (if you haven't sold the other one)! This 880 (also with a 4.5 amp motor) is newer, since I can see the headlight bulb warning label. I also noticed tools are included with it!

Les,

For your older 880, a replacement impeller fan would be part number 1-608004-000 (1/4" dia. shaft hole). May still be available, but check any sources that claim to still have it, just to be sure.

Here is one on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROYAL-METAL-UPR...
(seller states this has the correct 1/4" shaft hole for your armature)

The newer 880's headlight bulb decal says: "USE GENUINE ROYAL BULBS OR 10-WATT EQUIVALENT."

Ben
Thanks for the numbers for ordering.
The lights from 505 to cr1 are same bulb as royal. Well the bulbs from Kirby fit. I have a few LED lights for cr1 prior bulbs and cb1 to legend 2.
I have quite a few vacuums. I got another tradition. I got blue trim for my 519. I got blue emtor bottom, brush nozzle trim, headlight trim, power switch, handle lock and I'm using a tradition fork and cord to make an all blue vacuum.
I'm going to do 1 vacuum at a time. I'm basically hording vacuums. I'm going to finish sale over the winter.
I'm doing my all original 560 first. Then with the new ultimate g manual fixing up a g6 to give to my friend/co-worker.
That is tmi but all info on labeling power switches wiring etc. So thanks for info.
Les

Les, what is 'sale' you mention over winter?

Very cool that you're doing a blue trimmed old model. I have a dual s50 with that color that I'll be restoring next, just need a deep blue bag, love that color on old vacs

'Hoarding vacuums' , haha. Sounds like it. How many do you have that work and not parts vacs?

Well there ya go.
