Hey y'all I have a few questions concerning the dyson v6 and contemplation on upgrading to the dyson v10. Well let me start off by saying that black friday is around the corner and dyson will be going on sale. In fact the v10 animal (the specific model i want) is going to be on sale at kohls for 499 with an additional kohls cash of 150 which would bring the cost down to 349. So I'm most likely going to end up getting it. Now I have a v6 motorhead currently with a lot of extra stuff with it (yes soft roller cleaner head is encluded) and I was wondering how much can I possibly get for it. Let me list off all of the extras that I have for it and let me know what you all think.

V6 Motorhead machine with crevice and combination tool
mini motorized tool and soft dusting brush
soft roller head
stiff bristle brush and multi angle brush.

how much do you think a pawn shop (in florida) or in general, would give me for it? Do keep in mind that the want and cyclone have minor scratches it and everything functions pretty good.

Personally I would recommend cleaning it up really nice (you could gently use alcohol or a Magic Eraser to get the surface scratches off the wand and attachments, wash the filters, and wipe out the clear bin and cyclone assembly), and then selling it on ebay or Craigslist. You'll likely get a lot more selling it at either of those places, rather than selling it at a pawn shop.

Dyson has so many cordless models now, that the V6 probably won't be as valuable as it was a year or two ago, but it should fetch a decent amount. I sold my V6 early this year to a friend for $150, and he and his wife use it regularly.

Because of the self-cleaning bin, the V10 will be a huge upgrade in convenience for you (no more having to clean the screen in the cup regularly, or pulling out hair or large debris that gets stuck at the top).

I'm sure the V6 will find a happy home if you do some prep work and get it ready for its next user!

I agree with the last reply, try selling it on Craigslist or another local sales site. You might get $100 or so for it, but the V6 can be found for $200 or so new and $140 refurbished so you may even have to drop the price below $100.

A pawn shop might give you $50 for it, or they may be completely clueless and give you more if they think it's a newer model. Selling to another individual would be your best bet.

It's really not worth much I would say $25 to $50
I agree with the above statements that you might find a sucker on Craigslist who will pay more.
Also if you were going to upgrade I'd recommend the V8 over the V10.
But I would definitely take a look at all of the market I think Hoover has just as good of offerings now in cordless segment.

Generally pawn shops are only interesting in DTD brand vacuums such as Kirby,Rainbow,'Lux,Filter Queen, and TriStar. The shops figure they will get more for DTD brand vacuums than a big box store brand such as Dyson and other similar vacuums.

thanks for your feedback

Although the v7 and V8 are nice machines there are just some things I dont seem to like with each machine. For me its all about design and look (mostly) and then function. I like the look of the v7 and would consider getting it, since it functions and looks better than the v8. I say it because the v8 has a bigger battery pack and it takes longer to charge. Also I'm not crazy about having to wash out 2 filters on the v8,and v7 animal models, which is why I would get a v7absolute since it only has 1 filter to wash and has shorter charge time. Also the soft roller cleaner head has 1 roller in the front insead of 2 rollers ( front big roller abd back thin blue roller) on the overall tool. Thats one of the reasons why I wont get the v10 absolute, because the soft roller on that has both the big roller in the front and then the thin blue one in the back. and Id perfer the one roller, like the one that comes with the v7 absolute and later v8s. Also Im not that crazy about the copper color pole (yes I know I could get a different color) but I wouldn't need it. And on top of that I don't even use the soft roller with my v6 (maybe for a few months I did). So that just leave the v10 animal for me because its got everything i want in terms of design and function. So thats what I'm going to aim for.

I went with a v7 absolute for right now as it was on sale from dyson for 237, which is a lot more affordable for the time being. Although its not the model I wanted to upgrade to, its an upgrade from my current v6 motorhead, plus it has the features I want, such as quieter moter, the dirt ejector. The v7 absolute will do for the time being, till I can afford the v10 animal.
