I'm using the original OEM brushroll on power nozzel 2-102.

I recently noticed that the belt (which is new), aluminum pulley, aluminum brushroll bearing support housings and bearings gets very hot during operation. Is this normal? (I never checked before)

I thought it had bad bearings but upon inspection, it doesn't have bearings at all. The "bearing", part number 70091, is just a solid brass fitting.

I realize this may be hard to answer, but how much heat from friction is normal?

Thanks.

Thats not hair in the bearing, that is felt, it is there to keep hair from winding around the shaft of the brush roll. Your brush roll looks like it is perfect condition, put a few drops of very light turbine oil in the bronze bearings before you reassemble it. It is normal for the pulley and belt to be warm, the belt is tight and pulls on the pulley when the belt is attached to the motor. If you have any concerns, order a Cleveland Wood replacement brush roll, they use ball bearings in theirs.

Vacuum belt systems tend to get quite hot, even under a light load.

Sorry for late reply, just saw them. Thought I'd get an email notification when someone responded. Thanks for suggestions. Did order brushroll with ball bearings for comparison, which does reduce heat production by quite a bit. However, they're rather cheap in build quality. I don't suspect those bearings will have a long life.
