Neat. It looks like the broken part was cast aluminum? It could probably be welded back together by someone with an aluminum welder and a lot of patience, or a new one machined from stock. Luckily you had a replacement.
I think I see the design flaw already. It looks like that tube shaped part that broke had two slots in it to hold that wingnut-looking thing on the center shaft. Probably square slots/not chamfered or whatever. |

Take it up with Aerus. Maybe they'll change it—ha. I actually contacted Electrolux Group in Sweden to find out what the 'Z' prefix on the older models meant, but no one knew. |
