Which of these would you get? THis goodwill charges too much I feel on vacuums...have seen and posted other big prices from here before . The Hoover has to be old..1970’s? Shows 4.8 amps, is it a standard find for them or a rare one? . Is this the simplicity that people most often go for? It’s a 10 amp one. Underneath they look almost the same it seems to me after a quick glance .

i've never seen a convertible for more than 10 bucks at a thrift store no matter what one ive seen it in. 24.99 isnt obscene but its high for something most average people would never buy thrifting. both are too new for my liking, but id get the decade. built better and lasts longer.

The Simplicity is still being made. That exact model. Parts are easily obtained.

If it were me, I'd go for the Hoover, simply because I like the brand, and it must be the older of the two.
I like vintage.
That being said, there's a mint green Decade 80, with headlight, about a 45 minute drive from me.
Looks decent cosmetically, and the owner says all it needs is a new belt.
Free on Craigslist.
Kinda makes me wish I needed another upright.

I know!

I don't need it.
I have no room for it.
The wife is quickly running out of patience.

But every time I look at the listing or think about it, I'm tempted!
I do love free vacuums!

JustJunque , I understand your point, I just acquired 8 Electrolux, 3 of them were free. I already owned two, so i have 10 of them and I'm pretty sure I'd jump on the next one that would be free around here.

Hmm

Both are decent machines. I'd say if you want deeper carpet cleaning go with the Hoover but if you want the convenience of onboard tools go with the Simplicity

Will power...fading

justjunque's profile picture
I'm wondering if that free Decade 80 that I mentioned is too good to be true.
My will power gave out, and I contacted the seller...twice.
No reply.
There's been activity by the seller, because the post has been bumped up to the top of the page.
Scam?

And now the listing is gone.
Oh well.
