Having perused the UK version of the eBay website, I found that all of the tools that were offered in the latter-day Legend II basic attachment set, including the four that had not been changed to the Generation 3-style mold, were now all in the same color as the G3.

The four tools in question that still had the '60s-'80s-style mold included the hose, the lifter grip, the air intake guard and the spray/suds gun!

Having said this, I cannot help wonder if, here in the US, any of the last Legend IIs sold in 1991 ever had the attachments in the G3's trim color? I already know about the G3-style tool set in maroon when it was packaged with the fall 1990 run of the Legend II and how rare that is here...

The only attachments I find VERY interesting in that color is the spraying gun and hose attachment. How long is the hose? And seeing the rug renovator nozzle in maroon is unique as well. In the US the rug renovator nozzle is black with a maroon Kirby logo on the belt lifter. In the US, 1990 was the last year of the Legend II till they made the G3. Plus we didn’t have the G3 white gray color on the Legend II over here. And I only seen the maroon color G3 tools on the internet and probably only available in Europe.

Gabriel,

The standard length of a Kirby hose is 7 feet; however, there is an optional 12 foot "stretch" hose.

You are right that the Legend II's Renovation Group casting did start out being black with the maroon belt lifter label; it was late in 1990 that the casting itself was maroon as well.

You are right, too, that the Legend II did have an extended sales run outside North America because for some reason the 240-volt version of the Generation 3 didn't make it there until around the fall of 1992.

I did see at least one Legend II that was built and sold here (it was built around November 1990), which did come with the G3-styled tool set.

Besides the off-white tools that came with the very last batch of the export Legend IIs in 1992, I am still trying to figure out the other mystery of... were there ever any Legend IIs - those with the shake-out (reusable) bag option - with the maroon (not the more common black) hammertoned Sani Emtor?

~Ben
