Hi all,

A couple of months ago, I took the motor from an old Hoover vacuum and recycled the rest. It was a tan Hoover Elite-style vacuum, although it may not have been formally called an Elite. Basically, it looked exactly like the Elite Supreme but was light tan instead of dark green. Imagine the vacuum below in tan. It had tools, but I do not remember if the hose was a wrap-around unit or a side-mounted one.

All I have now is the motor with its original 7-blade fan and (if I recall corrrectly) single-row brush roll, and I am very interested in determing the exact amperage of the motor. Do any of you have this very cleaner? If so, would you mind checking the amp rating on the sticker for me? If anyone has even a picture, name, and/or model number of one of these things, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Maybe a Hoover Sprint? It looked a lot like an Elite Supreme and was tan. I think the hose was a less deluxe style though.

My apologies for the delayed response.

relhall and fan-of-fans:

I appreciate the replies! Thank you both.

relhall: The color of the vacuum in question was virtually identical to that of the Dimension you posted. However, the vacuum had a bit more of a glossy finish and was basically the same as the Hoover Elite Supreme in my original post. The hood, body, and bag cover probably came from the same mold that made the Elite Supreme.

fan-of-fans: I think you have the right vacuum in mind. In fact, now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure the vacuum I bought did have a wrap-around hose plastic hose, not the side-mounted stretch hose.

I seem to recall the Spirit was a bright red Elite-type machine which had a slide-top cloth bag and a slightly different hood from the one I had, but it's certainly possible that Hoover had a different machine labelled "Spirit," too. Google searches gave me no luck. Would you know a specific amperage rating or model number?

Thanks again to both of you for your help!

Not Spirit but Sprint. The one I recall had a hard bag case and similar hood to the Elite Supreme but maybe had the smaller inset headlight. The hose I think was plastic and went over the bag. I may have seen one in an old Sears magazine I have, if I still do.

Oh wait you're right, it is Spirit. I uploaded the page a few years ago, look in this thread reply 16. It's not very clear, but you can see the machine's characteristics.

It was late and I was confusing "Sprint" and "Spirit." The Sprint is indeed the bright red, slide-top bag model, not the Spirit as I had mistakenly said. My bad.

However, coincidentally, the actual vacuum I am after is, in fact, called the Spirit! You found the right one! Thank you! Now that I see the picture, I realize I was mistaken about the hood, too. It had the one in the picture, not the same one which the Elite Supreme had.

I wasn't able to decipher an amperage rating or model number from the ad you posted. Would you happen to know either of these things?

Thanks again!
