Looks to be never used! This design was honoured by Time Magazine in 1983...not sure the title of the award, but had something to do with excellent industrial design.

You are absolutely correct that as this is a tried-and-true design, it indeed lasted quite a while. I have also seen a Sanitaire version of this. OOPS: Took a closer look at the serial number and it says not 1988, but 1989! The week of manufacture given would fall between January 31-February 6, 1989. ~Ben |

On the third picture the filter as well as the bag chamber appears to have dust on them. First picture, I thought I saw some paint scuffs, but it could be a light reflection. |

I didn't see anything that looked used. It could be just typical scuffs from being moved around in the box after all these years. It is 35 years old. It could just be actual dust, too. |
