What’s some of your favorite machines to use on carpet with regards to the ‘vacuum lines’ that it leaves/creates? I just used my Rainbow D4 SE ( not the se power nozzle though). I was very impressed and reminded of nice it made the carpet look. I prefer the carpet to have the same uniform look ( the nap) vs seeing actual lines

Chinese carpets. Mine all have 'medallions' on them.
However, the white carpeting in my room does show perfect "Hoover lines". My late cousin had snow white carpeting in here formal living room and dining room. (Didn't say it was practical, but it was gorgeous. It has stunning Hoover Convertible lines. She made sure it looked like that. After she passed, her kids sold the house. I believe that carpeting is long gone. |

Because I talk about vacuums with average people (hundreds of them per month)for a living, we always talk about vacuum lines. Many people hate them. Some think the vacuum is "streaking" their carpets and want a vacuum that won't do that. Some love those lines and specifically want a vacuum that 'will' leave lines.
Long brush bristle length helps - but the absence of carpet 'guards' (which keep the carpet and cord from wrapping around the brush roller) on the soleplate is key. A Miele power nozzle will leave perfect lines without the center 'carpet guard' mark. A Kirby will leave three 'marks' because of the two carpet guards and the belt guard. |

Hoover's tend to have longer bristles that extend beneath the baseplate more than several other manufacturers I have used. It is for that reason I believe Hoover's tend to make excellent vacuum lines/ prints. I tend to use the phrase "Vacuum Prints" LOL. Whether it's one of my Hoover PowerMax canisters, Celebrity canister, Convertible upright or Dimension 1000 canister, they all leave wonderful vacuum prints!! Hoover Quadraflex patterns from my Dimension 1000 and Supremacy canister are some of the best looking ones. I like the wider 13.5" print that they leave and they bring the carpet up gorgeously. Granted tracks from a Hoover Convertible style machine look great are usually highly recognized in a vacuum posting with the 2 brush rows being even and just having the thin center belt path. My 2 Hoover Celebrity canisters leave the carpet looking nearly the same too. It's very hard for me to distinguish Hoover Celebrity power nozzle tracks from Hoover Convertible despite the Convertible having the slightly larger middle rug guard where the belt is and the Hoover Celebrity having the wider end where the belt rides on the end of the brush roll.

Especially the newer red stiffer bristles. My other favorite brand Electrolux does okay with carpet lines but not as good as the Hoover. Guess it also depends on the type of carpeting that a person has. My experience with the Hoover Celebrity power nozzle is also the same.
I used my Hoover Celebrity to clean my grandparent's home last weekend. They have Berber carpet which shows no lines :(
