What’s some of your favorite machines to use on carpet with regards to the ‘vacuum lines’ that it leaves/creates? I just used my Rainbow D4 SE ( not the se power nozzle though). I was very impressed and reminded of nice it made the carpet look. I prefer the carpet to have the same uniform look ( the nap) vs seeing actual lines

I don't know if this is related but I found a how-to video on this topic, looks pretty neat.

Makes me wish I had carpet again, haha

I disagree

I see his on Automobile carpet when perusing the for sale section....but I dont care for that look at all. Yes, one can truly see that it’s been vacuumed, but I prefer the ‘new carpet’ loo with all the nap laying the same way, to each their own

This is why ....

you have to love being a human.

We're talking about lines our vacuum cleaners make on certain types of carpeting.
.... and I totally agree.

hey, there are people who fret over the lines their lawn mowing makes. Now that's just crazy.

Haha - I used to be like that long ago when I had a nice Bermuda lawn! I would go at angles to make like giant 'V's in the front yard.
After the increasing tree shade caused St Augustine to take over the Bermuda, the lines did not show. One less thing to worry about now!

Vacuum lines are very visible on

Chinese carpets. Mine all have 'medallions' on them.
However, the white carpeting in my room does show perfect "Hoover lines". My late cousin had snow white carpeting in here formal living room and dining room. (Didn't say it was practical, but it was gorgeous. It has stunning Hoover Convertible lines. She made sure it looked like that.
After she passed, her kids sold the house. I believe that carpeting is long gone.

Because I talk about vacuums with average people (hundreds of them per month)for a living, we always talk about vacuum lines. Many people hate them. Some think the vacuum is "streaking" their carpets and want a vacuum that won't do that. Some love those lines and specifically want a vacuum that 'will' leave lines.

Long brush bristle length helps - but the absence of carpet 'guards' (which keep the carpet and cord from wrapping around the brush roller) on the soleplate is key.
A Miele power nozzle will leave perfect lines without the center 'carpet guard' mark. A Kirby will leave three 'marks' because of the two carpet guards and the belt guard.

Speaking of soleplates...

I like the lines, it looks cool and shows that you actually bothered to vacuum, plus lets you know where you've cleaned.
And speaking of sole plates I need a replacement for my Royal 4650 power head as both carpet guards have broken out because it's plastic and old. Too bad they went away from the indestructible ones in metal like my 413 power tank uses. If anyone has one or knows where to get a new one I'd be interested. I have had it grab cords and completely destroy them before which also tore the remaining guard out.

I confess.

I'm moving from one place with short berber, to a place with a raggedy plush that's only a year old.

Ohh, the joy I had vacuuming it for the first time. Using my central vacuum I rigged the exhaust to go out the window. The suction is incredible. I put on my reconditioned 1983 Kenmore wide, double-brush power nozzle that I've adapted to use with my new plasti-flex hose and WOW !
The lines.

Even though the single guy that lived here for the last year seem to clean it before he left, it wasn't very clean. The stuff going up that hose, especially in the walk ways. I'll bet he didn't even have a vac.

But it's so fun. I could do that all day. I should take a video.

OK, would that be going too far? S-sh-SHHH. Don't tell anyone.

My favorite would using a Lindhaus. It just make the lines look perfect.

panasonicvac

I have not tried a Lindhaus, but I probably should.  I guess they have a 18" wide model which is unusual but probably works good.

I have two Wessel-werks EBK360 models that I got new (display models) and they are, IMO, the best, but right now I'm having fun with my 1983 Kenmore pn.

Are you the one with awesome vids of diff. peoples central vacs?

Mostly Hoovers

Hoover's tend to have longer bristles that extend beneath the baseplate more than several other manufacturers I have used. It is for that reason I believe Hoover's tend to make excellent vacuum lines/ prints. I tend to use the phrase "Vacuum Prints" LOL. Whether it's one of my Hoover PowerMax canisters, Celebrity canister, Convertible upright or Dimension 1000 canister, they all leave wonderful vacuum prints!! Hoover Quadraflex patterns from my Dimension 1000 and Supremacy canister are some of the best looking ones. I like the wider 13.5" print that they leave and they bring the carpet up gorgeously. Granted tracks from a Hoover Convertible style machine look great are usually highly recognized in a vacuum posting with the 2 brush rows being even and just having the thin center belt path. My 2 Hoover Celebrity canisters leave the carpet looking nearly the same too. It's very hard for me to distinguish Hoover Celebrity power nozzle tracks from Hoover Convertible despite the Convertible having the slightly larger middle rug guard where the belt is and the Hoover Celebrity having the wider end where the belt rides on the end of the brush roll.

A girl I used to live wasn’t vacuuming, she was ‘making lines’.

reminds me of ....

White lines. lol

I hadn't heard that song in decades and always thought it was advert for cocaine.... and not something this no alcohol, no drugs, no carbonated, no caffeine consuming gay vegan would ever consider.   yell

Actually the song is a cautionary tale, so very kid friendly. IMO.

Especially the newer red stiffer bristles. My other favorite brand Electrolux does okay with carpet lines but not as good as the Hoover. Guess it also depends on the type of carpeting that a person has. My experience with the Hoover Celebrity power nozzle is also the same.

I used my Hoover Celebrity to clean my grandparent's home last weekend. They have Berber carpet which shows no lines :(

I like to make all the lines aim one way with the nap all pulled straight up, so you don't see the forward lines, just the backward strokes. I love playing "guess the vacuum" based on the carpet lines. I'm quite good at it too!
