I think mine may need a new power head motor soon as it always seems to bog down on my normal modern low pile carpet. Vacuum motor is new of course and works great but I lubed up the head motor and it spins pretty fast till it hits the carpet. I'll probably replace it sometime but other priorities and having plenty of excellent working vacuums it can wait.

Yeah I looked them up and there are plenty for 30 or less shipped but I have other projects I'm working on now that have soaked up most of my toy and project money.
My car needs new tires, trying to get the upgraded European projector headlights I paid 180 for finally for my sisters 300m, stuff like that so the powerhead can wait for now but I'll get one soon. I did get the new belts for it and the quality paper bags. I was going to see if the motor out of the Royal 413 I have would work but doubt it, though I could kinda poke the metal wand and powerhead onto the wand of the Compact and it worked, they use the same ac cord plug.

Hey
I see paint still looks good. What kind of power is motor and how big is bags for it. With power nozzle I'm sure it picks up excellent. Nice vacuum glad to see you get to enjoy after fixing it up.

Hey

With everything done and added to it I bet.
Vacuums like that have good power. You add power nozzle and restore it improves it even more.
A while down the road when I get extra money I might try to get a setup similar. It's sweet vacuum.

Belt and powerhead motor for mine

Rex, I put a brand new belt in it right after I replaced the main motor. The thing sat in moms closet for 30 years and everything was dead or almost locked up after all that time and the main motor something was loose inside but it still tried to work.
It's possible the new belt is already toast with all the issues and it being a smooth belt but I lubed that motor up and it seemed to smooth out and runs pretty fast and smooth now but bogs down when it hits the carpet.
I do have one more new belt Starks sold us for it and the lady there seemed to know which belt it needed so figuring it is the right one.
Maybe I'll try the other one and see what happens as it has sucked up things that made it spin out and like that till I cleared em out.

New belt

Well I tried to use my C9 today and the brush was hardly spinning so I broke out the second new belt that was in the bag Starks sold us and now the brush spins like it should again so maybe I didn't have the brush roll freed up and lubed well enough or I ran over too much junk right away and toasted the new belt early.
Anyways guess it doesn't need a power head motor yet, just keep an eye on that belt and try not to run over stuff that locks up the brush.
Luckily even through Starks it was only like 6 bucks for two and they are fairly close by me.

Thanks, didn't really want to have to replace another motor so soon so we'll see how it does now that everything is loosened up and working properly again. One thing I like is it's pretty quiet compared to my other two Royals and yes the bag is super easy to change or just dump out seeing how it's basically a round paper bucket.

Glad you are enjoying your Compact...

I found ANOTHER Patriot a couple of weeks ago. Superb condition with "atomic" hepa exhaust filter and a brand new looking power hose.

After replacing one swivel wheel and finally finding the source of the low suction, it turned out to be a great Goodwill find. They prices it for $5.99. I seldom see incomplete canister vacuums for sale and trust me I searched for the wands and power nozzle.

A note, because the registers were having some problems, I made one more run through to be sure. That is when I found the huge exhaust filter.

This makes 2 Patriots. Love em.

Well you should post some pics, the early machines are similar but some of the features changed over the years like the way the exhaust port is setup.
