I love dusting with my vintage vacuums using their original attachments,  but their brush hair is rarely in the best condition to use often without it deteriorating more with each use....

So... has anyone found good quality,  dense,  perhaps natural hair dusting attachments lately?

Any brand or shape,  as long as it fits a standard wand.

I was looking at the Fuller Brush vacuum website.  The attachments look good but are hard to find,  so now I'm open to other's recommendations.

I always found the Kenmore/Panasonic canister full size dusting brush to be nice. Soft rubber and fits in tight spots plus soft and supple horsehair bristles. You can get it at Sears (if you still have one) or order them from online shops. I think some aftermarket companies may be selling them also.

The Electrolux/Aerus dusting brush combo tool seems to be pretty good too, tried and true and soft horsehair as well.

The Kirby hair beushes are a favorite for me-they have a wide enough intake opening where the bristles don't clog the opening as other do.Also a wide dust brush-with real hair bristles from MD vacuums.Don't like the nylon or plastic brush bristles-they wear quicker-get knarled up and can scratch surfaces being cleaned.

The original dusting brush for my eureka princess was trashed when it was given to me. It actually looked like the bristles were melted or something. I ordered a replacement brush online and I got a natural bristle one. But when I got it the bristles blocked the opening and instead of sucking stuff up it just flung the dust or whatever around. So I used my hair shears and cut the bristles from around the opening. After that it's been awesome for dusting. I even use it on my Kirby hose. I don't think the Kirby G4 dust brush is that great. The dust brush in my shark is totally pathetic and small.

sidewinder dusting brush

This one is my favorite. The way it's designed you can dust furniture or vertical walls easily. You can also dust things like ceiling fan blades, it's awesome.

That side winder thing looks really cool. I wanted to ask about the Kirby zip brush. That's one thing that didn't come with my G4. What exactly is it for? Dusting or like for vacuuming hair off a sofa? I see them on ebay but I don't know what they are used for.

Mike, thanks!  Those brushes are so interesting!  Like the round surface brush and the 15" floor brush, and their mattress tool is wild.. never saw one like it.

I have to agree that the deluxe Kenmore/Panasonic horse-hair dusting brush is the softest vacuum brush I have ever touched. I trust it to dust my computer screen, TV screen and other delicate surfaces. I bought several to use with other vacuums, and I bought a nice metal adapter so it can attach to my Miele’s hose.

sidewinder video

The sidewinder tools are awesome, here is a video that shows how they work, it mostly focuses on cleaning floors but the same idea would be applied to dusting as well.

The demo would even be more effective if the tool was being used with a vacuum cleaner. Then he could show cleaning the HVAC ceiling vents-these are usually air intake to the system filters. My house has two of these vents in the main hall. Each canister I have has vacuumed those vents in turn.

My favorite dusting brush is the round ones from the pre-G Kirbys.
The bodies are always pliable and non-sticky. The bristles never deteriorate or fall out with age. They are coarse enough to dust but fine enough to not scratch fine furniture. I do not know what they are made of though.

I am still using a D50 brush that I got with my Omega set I had bought used in 1994. I use that brush for furniture, knick-nacks, along baseboards, tight spots on floors, window sills, door sills, and such; average use about 12 hours a year. The bristles are almost worn down just from use. About 10 years ago I went to my Kirby shop to buy a new one as I knew I would need another some day (was half worn then), and he told be just replace the bristle assy inside the brush! Talk about serviceability and honesty! So I bought a new Omega brush for furniture use and the bristle assy for the D50 one when it wears to nothing. The D50 one still gets the dirtier, low areas.

This is my favorite all-around dusting brush I found. If you order it an inch and a quarter you can pop out the molded in adapter and use it for 34mm as well.

The Kirby generation series dusting brush is a very good alternative as well.

I have a tool much like the one shown in the link-mine will fit Meile vacuums. It is a nice tool-great for tabletops and car instrument panels!Beleive a larger tool like that was available from NSS for the Pig or Designer Dry canister vacuums. Will look on the NSS website to see if their version is still available.

Last year, I had an extra Kirby dusting brush(pre G series) with soft bristles. I decided to cut the bristles at an angle so the shortest are at the back of the brush and it is convenient to use for dusting high places, ceiling fans, and for thicker layers of dust. I have seen on Ebay that vintage Kirbys with attachments where dusting brushes had the bristles cut real short - possibly for scrubbing heavy dust surfaces.

I love the Aerus Electrolux dusting brushes. I love the natural hair coupled with the built in upholstery nozzle! So handy! The Kirby brush is also pretty nice too.

I like the old Compact dusting brush because the bristles are natural and very soft, also the insert is long and wide enough so the bristles don't suck into the opening yet remain long enough to dust delicate furniture without the insert scraping against the furniture. I would say the second best would be the Electrolux combo dusting/upholstery tool.

Aerus/Electrolux (as long as rubber 'donut' is intact)

Compact/TriStar (any; even the CS dusting brush that has the rubber 'donut' like the Lux brush)

I wish EVERY vac had GOOD dusting brushes with RUBBER body & HORSEHAIR bristles! I HATE PLASTIC bristles & HARD PLASTIC brush body!
