Hello all, I have a motor on a Panasonic vacuum where the one of the carbon brushes is arcing badly on one side but the other side is perfectly fine and does not arc. Would I have to replace the brush, or use a sanding stone. This is for work and I do not want to mess this up.

Before replacing brushes, see if you can measure current draw with a 'kill a watt' device or ammeter. If much above rated current draw then motor is failing with shorting windings.
