Hey

My Kirby tradition has the safety switch that like a paddle on pinball machine.

The vacVAcon bottom has high and low speed.  The switch activates both speeds through hose and nozzle.

If I wired  2 wires to power switch I would not need safety switch.

Another quick question.  I think someone is selling a heritage in my area with 13 inch nozzle.  I'm not positive.  I'll post pic of ad.  See what everyone thinks.

small head heritage II

bnsd60m9200's profile picture
yes!!! it is , if youre interested grab it! those are very hard to find. hopefully the price is reasonable. even 30 years on, heritaage II's are still very common, so it shouldnt be much (hopefully)

also, dont bypass the safety switch, if its bad, kent owyler or bill edstrom have replacements. sounds like someone botched the wire placements in the switch, its quite easy to fix as the wires are color coded and the switch labeled for proper colors in each slot.

Les,

As Will pointed out, if you have enough money please do buy that Heritage II with the small 13" Heritage II Legend nozzle.

I also see a Kirby Classic 1CR with a Classic Omega bag, a Heritage I handle and Classic III cord.

Hey

lesinutah's profile picture

I got a hold of the seller.  I should be meeting up with them buying heritage.  The cost is $25. I'm thinking she wants to sell all them at once.  I told her I just wanted the one.  I mentioned I could tell her value of all the vacuums.

So hopefully it will be in my collection shortly.

She probably thought she was sitting on a gold mine like everyone that has an old Kirby does. They just pull it out of the basement for the first time in 30 years "oh this is a kirby its really old, i want $100 for it these are worth $1,000"

If she was selling all of them for $25 that would have been a great deal to take advantage of!

Les,

You could have just taken them all, then (if your money allows). And then at a later date, you could then re-sell all those you got from her that you don't need.

Hey

I'm tight on money.  I don't have alot of wiggle room.  She is having a family member sell them.  I think she is an attorney and really busy.  I'm keeping my eye on that website site for sale again.  Hopefully then I could buy all the vacuums.  Thanks for all your help.  If I see again I'll keep you posted.

I will.  I've seen your nozzle and one on eBay a year ago for $250.  It and a Kirby commercial vacuum are on my list of vacuums.

I'll scrape up a couple hundred and text her in future.  Legend # g5 d80 and 560 I could almost make money back from g5 and legend 2.

Ben is there any literature about heritage 13.  I have not seen anything.

Les,

No, no literature I know of for the 13" nozzle, even though the belt lifters are shared with the standard 16" nozzles and the other parts shared with the nozzle castings for models 513-515 and 516-D80. But the specific part numbers for them do exist, though.

Here are the parts unique to just these 13" nozzles:
143179 = air adjusting plate (early Heritage I nozzles only)
143382S = complete 13" nozzle w/o brush or belt (Heritage I)
143383S = complete 13" nozzle w/o brush or belt (Heritage 84)
143384S = complete 13" nozzle w/o brush or belt (Heritage II)
143386S = complete 13" nozzle w/o brush or belt (Heritage II Legend)
143388S = complete 13" nozzle w/o brush or belt (Legend II)
147984 = 13" nozzle bumper (Heritage II/Legend)
147988 = 13" nozzle bumper (Legend II)
500505 = 13" Quadra-Sweep brush roll assembly (also shared with Comvac CV1300)
502??? = 13" nozzle bumper (Heritage I/84)

What's the point of listing all these parts numbers? Does any retailer actually have them listed by the numbers for a search? Even at vac stores, the person there just asks you what model you have and that's it, never have I seen where the part numbers , especially power nozzles etc, came into play. Can you order these parts from Kirby directly?

Kelton,

Not anymore, but I included them for reference. The part numbers I mention for each nozzle refer to such finer details like decals and trim colors.

Most of the time, you can try to ask for one just by the model name and size.

They help me as I look up my Kirby reference manual. If you look on eBay sometimes part numbers are listed. I've searched for 13 inch brush roll 500505. Its helpful when royal part numbers they are alot easier with numbers.
