Hi there,
I just thought i would load up a video of my 1926 electrolux model 11 the second model to be made by them. This is the very early model 11 as its made in Sweden and has the early electrical connection of a bayonet fitting socket. The later model has the push in type plug and is made in England. It is of great importance to first plug in the bayonet fitting to the vacuum first, before plugging into the mains socket or a wondering finger may accidentally intrude into the socket and bingo hazard. This is of course is common sense, but most people today dont seem to acknowledge such things unless lol theirs a label to tell them lol. It is incredible really the build quality of things made year's ago,and the fact this machine still runs today 92 years later is a testament to quality. Back in the 1920s one would have to be quite wealthy to afford such an appliance. It would of been a dust pan and brush and a rug beater for most in the day. I may be wrong but i believe this model was made up until 1930,and was replaced with the model 12 on wards untill 1933. Any comments would be most welcome good or bad lol , I do have other videos of my vintage hoover collection going up to 1960. If copy and paste into youtube search bar of youtube you can see the electrolux 11 in action CLICK HERE TO GO TO Markanthony5's LINK |

That is one bad ass machine!
It is amazing that it still works after so many decades.. and the body and wooden attachments' condition is stunning!
Those sparks you can see from the brushes is a combination of artistic and scary as hell!
I wonder if it was always a visible electrical operation, or if the motor has deteriorated to the point of creating that array.
Either way, it's one impressive piece of history.
Thanks for positng!!

In the USA, we didn't get the model 11 until 1928. We got the model 12 in 1930. All were imported from Sweden. In 1933, in the midst of the Great Depression, Electrolux USA (which was their own company, not owned by Electrolux Sweden) decided to open their own factory. The White Sewing Machine Company made the motors until 1937, when Electrolux USA introduced an All-American model, the XXX (or 30). From that time on - until the Canadian "Hi Tech 2100" model in 1984 was launched in the USA - our models were unique to the USA.
