Not sure if this has been posted here before, but I don't recall seeing it on here so I figured I would post it. Looks like Fantom had a patent for a cyclonic backpack vacuum, which looks a lot like the main body of a Thunder minus the handle and the base. Would've loved to see this exist as this could've taken off well in a commercial environment. I wonder why they never went through with this?

It appears that bagged commercial backpack vacuums fare out better than bagless ones. The bags and filters are easier to replace on the bagged units.Try to discipline a typical commercial user to dump the bin after each use on a bagless vacuum. The ones I see-Dysons,Sharks are stuffed so full its a wonder those vacuums even still work!I would take a bagged backpack over the Fantom bagless one anytime!

I, for one, would love to have one. I think the Fantom cyclone system would perform quite well with the fine, powdery dust typically removed from commercial carpet. Bags need replacing and so do filters. If someone can change a bag, he or she can change a filter. The only difference is that the Fantom's filter will last longer than any bag will.

Any evidence from the development of vacuums which never saw the light of day fascinates me, so this is beyond cool for me to see. The fact it comes from Fantom just makes it that much better! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! If you come across any more Fantom patents, please do share.

Patents

This link will take you to all of the patents that Google has assigned to Fantom Technologies, there are a lot of them and it is cool to even see some of the things that they had patents for that aren't vacuums. I scrolled through them for a while and really enjoyed seeing all of them.

Sweet. It looks as though they were going to try to make a multi-cyclonic Wildcat!
