Hello. I recently bought this delightful cleaner, and yes, IT IS PURPLE! The purple is very dark, but I think the purple is more rare than the black, because I didn't even know they MADE a purple model. Anyway, the man who sold me this was very friendly and cooperative and I would very much recommend buying straight from him rather than amazon. Email me if interested, and mention my name Cameron if/when you order ;)

Cool find. I have the slightly older version of that, kind of a maroon color, 11 amp. It doesn't have the filter on the front and mine has a slide switch that turns only the vacuum motor on or vacuum and brush.

Is this the same guy who has them for sale on Amazon then? Why do you suggest going directly through him rather than Amazon?
I've been very tempted to buy one of these since I noticed there were some for sale on Amazon... it would go very well with my Bissell Anna.

Awesome vacuum find! I wonder if Amazon still have some of these?

The only thing I don't understand on these newer ones is how the brushroll only shuts off when the handle is up. I thought the purpose of the brush shutting off was to use it on bare floors?

Brushroll shutoff

The reason an upright would shut the brushroll off when the machine is upright is to prevent the brushroll from spinning continuously in the same spot while you're using the attachments

True, but with it being a lift off vacuum it would seem it's meant more as a carry around vacuum than an upright with a hose. At least I know with mine, the hose is really too short to use it with the canister still attached to the upright part. You could but there wouldn't be much reach.

I bought the black version from the same seller. I bought it from them because they won't charge for shipping whereas Amazon, you do have to pay for shipping. They also offer that if you bought one of these from them but mentioned my name on it, I would receive a free pack of bags but I declined that option.

Since after I did a video of mine and posted it on YouTube. I've boxed it back up and put it in storage. Mainly because I want to keep mine in the best possible shape that it would be in and I'm not taking the risk of breaking anything on it since I've heard that these broke alot.

Is it going to upset you if I told you that I used that image of the 3554 and its box for my binder cover? I'm sorry if it did :(

Also is anyone still selling these new old stock? It's one of my dream vacuums, hence why I put your picture on my binder.

Contact All-Fix Vacuums out in Reno, NV and see if they still have any left. That's where I purchased mine from.

I agree with fan-of-fans

It seems strange that the rollers shut off when placed in the upright position. My Bissell lift off (18Z6 cyclone) has two switches on the lift off canister. One for power and an on/off switch for the rollers. I can flip the rollers off for hard floor or hose and attachment above floor cleaning, but the hose is really to short to use with lift off still mounted to frame.

You have the choice in the upright position to have the rollers on or off. As with yours, when you lift off the canister the power is cut off to the rollers.

Can you switch off the rollers while vacuuming carpet say to vacuum over a throw rug that may get pulled into the rollers while running?

I'd rather have a vacuum that'd shut the brusholl off while the handle is up. I've used vacuums before where I'd use the hose while the brushroll is still spinning, and I'd see dust spit out of the brushroll. Plus if not careful, you could either accidently tangle up the brusholl from lets say a fishing line while you're busy using the hose without noticing. I think that happened to me once before. Or you can cause a burn mark on the carpet if the brushroll stayed on the same spot for very long. Yes there are vacuums that you can turn the brushroll off manually but I'm betting most of the consumers wouldn't do that themselves. My Kenmore Whispertone upright made by Panasonic that I have, it has not only a switch to turn the brushroll off manually but also the brusholl turns off when you take the hose out just like a Sebo Felix. But the Sebo Felix also shuts the brushroll off in upright locked position which I like more than my Kenmore.

I have seen several vacuums that shut the brushroll off when parked upright, or when tools are inserted. One reason is to prevent friction burns in your carpet (which does happen). Another reason is f0or vacuums that do not have diverter channels for tool and carpet modes, so when you remove the hose you aren't spitting dirt into the air.

I used the image of your 3554 next to its original box for my binder cover, was that ok of me to do? I'm sorry if it wasn't.
