Which came first, the Heritage II or Heritage II/Legend? Besides branding were there any changes?

Don,

The Heritage II did, in the fall of 1984. The "Legend" was tacked on three years later.

The fall 1987 rebranding also included these changes:
* Improved disposable bags, which are yellow in color instead of white, for better filtration and less chance of pinholes.
* Improved brush roll for longer life.
* Improved hose (no more metal at all)
* Improved motor internals.

Ben,
What were the motor improvements you mention? I didn't think those came about until the Sentria came out.

Rob,

It involved the field terminal leads inside the motor.

Hey

I know they had to adjust parts on motor to accept tech drive. I'm not positive but I think these upgrades went from legend up to diamond edition. The motor output is the same. If they made upgrades which didn't change until diamond edition I think small but beneficial. Is there any legend 2s fitting g series size hose.

If I'm misquoted don't murder me. I just researched Kirby motors from classic to sentria small changes in h2 was major change and diamond edition. It could still use same motor just upgraded. Food for thought. The classic motor is kept through heritage 2. Heritage 2 to diamond or still in use. The Kirby motor from 1970 slight upgrade lasted 40 years. Tech drive helped alot but still impressive.

Les,

The Heritage II motor is nothing like the motors used in the G series Kirby's. From G3 to Avalir the motors are all the same and quite different than the one used in the Classic series.

They are quite similar in field coil and armature. They use plastic for blades on armature and clamps for carbon brushes to accept tech drive. I was getting at you get h2 add plastic or amodel armature blades part connects to tech drive it's the same motor. They modified parts and placement. If you pull all the mods for tech drive bare bones stock on stock it's the same powerplant.
It's like a Chevy 350 carburated and a 350 fuel injected. Say the carburerated had a 3 speed transmission and fuel injected had a 400 torque flight automatic. It's pretty similar comparison except heritage has no transmission. If you take off top of both motors slight variations to help fuel delivery but block power etc it's the same. Kind of weird analogy but it helps my point.
Yes they are different but they are very similar.

Therefore

I don't see how the H2 motor field and armature could be the same as G series field and armature since H2 motor draws 6 amps in high speed mode and all of the G series machines draw 7 amps. Therefore the fields and armatures must be different.

@KirbyClassicIII You beat me to it absolutely correct information!

@Lesinutah you best be careful people get way too bent out of shape about Kirby's 🤣😂 👏 👏🤣😂 👏

In all actuality you definitely can see where the concept of the heritage was deconstructed and reconstructed as the generation series when you take machines apart.
Videos of the insides of both.

Hey
I stated they go in different. I posted pics. Look the armature fan is only major difference. They have same amp output. I get one is more advanced for tech drive. If you swap armature fans can you tell the difference between them.
G series motor housing is different to accommodate transmission. Carbon brushes have a bracket holding in instead of carbon brush caps. The g series has alot better seal for motor. The carbon brushes are a little bigger my guess is because I believe amodel fan on armature spins motor quicker. Fans are almost identical. However h2 motor doesn't spin as fast as it has aluminum fan.
So like I said it's additions to accessories on motor but if you strip down same motor.
Did I come across not liking Kirby's. I don't I absolutely love them. Their is a video why buy avalir when legend 2or heritage 2 is almost identical vacuum. I'm pretty sure it's the same person doing first video. I'll find it and post.
