Well, I went out on a limb, and I may regret it, but as of yesterday, I am officially a dealer for the Sirena Vacuum Cleaner system. I’ve debated on this for sometime now, and I’ve closely read the few reviews I’ve seen here, and I decided it was time to pull the trigger! So, with that said, have any of you here had any experience with the Sirena (good or bad) that you’ve not previously discussed here?

I'd like to hear of a users' experience from using this compared to the Rainbow (quality, effectiveness etc)

The Sirena's are fine for someone who can't get a Rainbow. I bought my gold 2 speed in 2006 and the Sirena brand new a 2 or 3 yrs ago (I can't remember). I think it cleans as well as Rainbow but to me, it's just not quite as user-friendly and the quality is not that of a Rainbow. You can just tell. The hoses do feel of high quality, just not the same quality as a rainbow. Same as the plastic housing, the hinges, the dolly...they just have a somewhat cheaper feel to them. But those are minor things, really. Everything about the vacuum is still fine.

It's just that its odd shape takes getting used to. If you lay the unit on its side it sends to flip onto the latches and the latch will pop off, but it's easy to get back on. The underside of the vacuum is harder to clean at the end of use because much of the underside is exposed to more water than the Rainbow and lint, cat hair, dog hair, whatever will stick to that rubber surrounding the separator. With my rainbow, hardly anything sticks to that rubber around the separator and is better quality.

All the attachments are extremely similar. The instructions say for vacuuming to fill to the minimum line. This is SO wrong. Either fill to max or between max and min.. Min is not enough water. The filter is easy to take out with screws and wash (if you even need to)

The PN is fine. I think the Sirena has a wee bit more airflow/suction than my Rainbow e2 gold, but not much.

Conclusion: When you use a Sirena to clean top to bottom, it's the same clean feeling when you're done as if you used a Rainbow.

I've had my Sirena for more than 4 years now. It's still fine, nothing broken, and cleans like it was new. For 1/3 the price of a Rainbow, I think it's a great value. When I start my own vac shop again, I'm definitely selling Sirena in my store.

Sirena is a great machine

I have a Sirena and the newest model Rainbow, the E2 black along with just about every other separator water vac. The Sirena is a great machine, I actually think it does a better job of getting the dirt down in to the water than the Rainbow, there is much more of a water swirrel with the Sirena and some of the other water vacs. The Sirena, and the Quantum as well will clean just as well as a Rainbow if not better at a much cheaper price. I hope they sell well for you, they are great machines.

Shop/Online

I am actually in the process of getting a shop set up at my house, but for the time being, I will be selling online as much as possible. I'm starting slowly on this, that way I don't have a ton of overhead to start off with! I will eventually set up a website as well, but that's TBA!

The Sirena is not a bad machine.

There are several threads devoted to the Sirena, most all of them are positive.

If you have a customer that is wanting a water vac, maybe has seen a Rainbow demonstration, or is replacing an older Rainbow. The Sirena is a good alternative. In my case I have a 40 year old chrome dome Rainbow, I wanted a new one but my checkbook was adamant that it would not happen. I was able to find a great deal on the Sirena and am happy with the purchase.

For approximately 1/3 of the price of a Rainbow you get a machine with 30 CFM more airflow. The basin is larger, but the design causes more clean up on the underside of the machine. I do, however, feel the wider opening makes cleaning the basis easier. No lighted basin, or direct connect wands. You also won't get the brushless motor, but you do get a very well built, "Italian designed" motor built in China.

As I have mentioned before. What I would like to see as improvements: 1. A longer hose. Two to three feet would do wonders. I am not in love with the power nozzle. I personally don't like the way the adjustments are labeled. I wish it had a 1-2-3, or . .. … . My last wish, I wish it had a headlight.

I hear some here on this site mention that they have one in their shop and it just sits there. I feel this is a machine that will have to be demonstrated, and sold. I doubt that you will have many waiting at your door for when the store opens begging you to let them by it.

Many, not all, American buyers are like me, again not all, but statistically and historically we don't like canisters. We are upright people. So you will be challenged with selling a canister vacuum with a power nozzle, as well as selling a machine that requires a bit more maintenance than wrapping the cord and stuffing the bag full of dirt back in the closet.

Unless your shop is going to be exclusively Sirena, I look at it being a niche machine. It may not be your highest volume seller, but it is a viable option to those that want or would like a Water based machine.

Came back to add:
The only problem I'v had with my Sirena in three years was a broken fuse holder on the power nozzle. Which the company immediately sent me a replacement with instructions to do the repair myself, or offered to have it shipped back to be repaired at their center. The repair was so simple, i was able to do it in about 10 minutes.

I found errors in my post above, but it's too late to correct them. That's what I get for being in a hurry.

Your customers will buy, not by this machine.
And it has a larger basin, not basis.

I'm nervous about this venture, but I think it will be a good one! I already own a newer E2 Rainbow, so I can at least demonstrate both machines for them, and they can see both of them side by side and in action. I figure that would be a good way to help them decide if they want to pay big money for the Rainbow, or more reasonable money for the Sirena, and they would have a reference point. I like the idea of the opening of the basin being larger.....One of my biggest pet peeves of a Rainbow is the small opening and me getting my big hand inside of it to clean it! I'm hoping this will make it easier to clean the Sirena's basin. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. I'll let you all know!

Having operated an authorized Rainbow service center for almost 25 years, before the Vacuum Museum, I sure wish we had the Sirena then. All the D3 and D4 repairs we did, I could have flipped a good 1/4 into a new machine. Now that the parts for D3 and most D4's are obsolete, what a wonderful machine to have for sale. A new motor for a D3 or D4 machine would have cost the consumer at least $400 plus labor, not to mention the rest of the old machine was old too. For $800 with a trade-in Rainbow, a new Sirena would be the way to go.

power nozzle

For Kirby'sthebest, if you don't like the power nozzle on the Sirena, there are a few alternatives. The Riccar universal central vacuum power nozzle plug fits the outlet on the Sirena hose perfectly, it offers 6 height adjustments and a long life belt. There's also the battery powered Volt and the Electrolux battery power nozzle. I definitely love my Sirina.

I briefly tried a Sirena while visiting another collector and I really liked it. I thought it had a significant bit of more airflow compared to the current Rainbow E2 with serpentine power head. I also like the Sirena sends the dirt deeper below the water than Rainbow and feel that the motor fans would stay cleaner that way.

Water quickly evaporates in water vacs due to the level of air going into them, Rainbows tend to just barely extend the intake into the water and I feel their design is flawed with how quickly water evaporates. For those reasons and price I think that the Sirena is a better buy. It's just a shame that the Sirena doesn't have the brushless motor, that would be incredible!!

quantum

Another great water vac is the Quantum, it's actually cheaper than the Sirena but is very well made, and gets the dirt deeper in to the water than the Rainbow. This is one area that Rexair definitely needs to improve upon. Actually, the Rainbow is the only separator water vac I know of that has this issue, the Hyla, Vivenso, Sirena, Quantum, Ritello and Roboclean all do this much better.

Am I correct in seeing that the Sirena has a CV type wand?

That's cool if that's the case.

CV wand

What do you mean by a CV type wand? Do you mean Central Vacuum? The Sirena has two hoses, one is electric and one is nonelectric. Interestingly, I think the nonelectric hose actually provides a bit better airflow. It includes two telescopic wands, one has a holder for the power nozzle cord and one does not, you can hook them together for more reach. The nonelectric hose has a curved wand that attaches to the end of it and this is what you attach your telescopic wand or other attachments to. Interestingly, I was able to get a wand with a spray jet on it and it fits the Sirena nonelectric hose perfectly without the curved wand attached. I use this set up to scrub my hard floors with the Sirena, works great. Just attach a hose to the faucet and a squeegee attachment to the end of the wand.

Sirena told me that their newest model actually has an all-in-one hose like the Rainbow. Water pickup and electric all in one. I’m also talking with Quantum to see about the possibility of a distributorship with them as well! It will be interesting to see if this works out!
