I don’t have this vacuum but I really want to buy it but I didn’t because when I plugged it in, it works but it makes a whistling noise because I noticed it said whistles = blockage. So I checked the hose and handle wand and no clogs. It cost $19.99 plus it was in nice condition so sadly I passed. Anyone who knows a lot about Fantoms why this happens, thanks.

Could be a blockage in the back of the unit near where the hose attaches. There's a cleanout port below. Does it have the HEPA filter on the side? If so could be blocked as well.

It's definitely fixable, it's just a question of finding it.

$19.99 is a great deal for that vacuum! They are very hard to find. The only ones in my area on classified ads people want $75+ for. Very collectible vacuums.

Fan of fans, I haven’t got a chance to check the hepa filter I was in a bit of a rush. I’m thinking about getting maybe tomorrow.

As long as it turns on the motor doesn't sound like garbage I'd get it. Clogs are fairly easy to fix, these machines are kinda prone to them. There is a clean out port on the back of the machine, you can open it up and see. I would also look at the port where the dirty airstream enters the bin. Facing the machine it is on the right side up inside the housing above the dirt bin. I recently found another Thunder at GoodWill myself, the dirt path from the intake in the bin all the way to the floor nozzle was clogged up.
