Hi Guys!

I just posted on “Vintage” about something I found while “googling” prices for 1986...

The Kirby Split Second Hand Vacuum that was attached on a bracket to the Kirby Heritage 2.

My question for the “Contemporary” thread is this:

Can anyone name and provide pictures of ANY upright vacuum, currently made or still available that has a similar set up? I specifically want to know if ANY vacuum manufacturers made an Upright with an attached, on board Hand Vacuum?? Even if not still made or for sale.. anything made besides the Hoover Concept 2 with its onboard, built in Help Mate??

I’d be grateful for help as I found the Kirby Split Second fascinating and wondered if any Contemporary vacuums had a separate hand vacuum built into an Upright.

Thank you all in advance for any or all information, pictures of stories regarding this type of multi purpose vacuum, Different than on board “Hose powered” tools found on most modern vacuums now. Thanks and have a great day!

Patrick

Ugh, I've seen that Samsung - looks horrendous! So big and bulky. Has anyone actually got it? I wonder if it's as bad as it looks lol!

We had a Hoover Concept where I worked that had a hand held vacuum attached. You took the cord off the big vacuum and put in on the little one to do the edge cleaning.

@mike811

Wow, I totally forgot about the Samsung and I’m embarrassed to say I actually OWN that vacuum! Lol it’s in storage but I took pics of it for my inventory. Thanks Mike for reminding me of it and Yes, Rad I own this Samsung but probably not for long. Lol.

It’s a great idea but has some weaknesses and I found it not useful in my home for the floor coverings I currently have.

Bare floors with the powerhead brushroll off, it worked pretty good! Of course it snowplows everything up front but it had great suction on the main unit. But also the “Swivel” steering wasn’t very smooth or easy to maneuver the vacuum.. think Dyson DC18 Slim, only the Dyson was still better. And YES... it’s very heavy for its size!

The removable hand held unit is horrible.. hardly any suction and mine was bought brand new, so it wasn’t a filter issue,etc. it wasn’t very convenient how the hand held removed.. so that was a negative to me. It’s also very tedious and difficult to clean out the cyclone and dirt bin.

The main reason I dislike this vacuum and why it’s in storage and I’ll probably sell it... you can ONLY vacuum low pile commercial carpet or Berber! Any nap or softness to your carpet and this vacuums strong suction digs down deep and it becomes almost impossible to push! Now if Samsung had added variable motor speed suction control or even a slide valve to relieve some of the main floor head suction.. it would be pretty good. But I gave up as my plush area rugs, medium pile plush and my throw rugs could Not be cleaned with this.. at all! The entire brushroll Head could be redesigned and it would be a much better vacuum.

Hey Mike.. notice on the QVC video that the typical shag or high pile carpeting they normally use for vacuum demos has been replaced with very stiff, Low pile carpets! It’s because the demo lady would Not be able to push it on Plush or medium pile carpeting!

So one more.. thank you guys! Sorry I forgot about my Samsung.. but the Hoover Concept Two is a vacuum with sentimental value that I’m on the look out for a perfect quality, lightly used one in the Blue color scheme.

Thanks, Patrick
