Hi everybody! So today is very exciting for me because one again I got another addition to my vacuum collection and this one here was made in the 60’s. I’m not going to tell y’all yet, so I wanted to surprise everybody with this one. I got this from Larry Adkinson aka Larryeddy, and this is one of the vacuums he was selling so I couldn’t pass it up at all. Enjoy!

Here’s what I got out so far, telescopic wand and hose. Familiar? I think I’ll keep the wand and maybe the hose?

Love me some vintage 60s stuff! Not just the style and colors, but a fun period in my life, memories it triggers

Ahh.

I wasn't sure. Thanks Rick.

I have an opportunity to get a sort of turquoise colored one.
Working, but a little rough.
It would be $5 and a 45 or so minute drive each way.

So here’s my new vintage vacuum! The Hoover Dial a Matic 1100, first model made around 1963! It is in very nice condition for being 55 yrs old and I’ve been dying for vacuum made in the 60’s to add to my collection! I also love the old style suction dial on the back.

Nice & Early

Great vac to start a 60s collection with new at the time features of clean air hard case system, suction dial, easiest hose use and more.attachments would have been optional.Your hose color is from later DAM.Bag signal would come later as would height adjustment, rare headlight and then Power Drive. As you noticed bag latch and suction dial match.Later round suction knob was easier to wind cord on in any position but not as nicely styled. On the earliest the hose from nozzle was not removable at bag door.Again better styling but more difficult to unclog.
Happy Hoovering!

That is a special present for you!

Way over here in the UK, we knew the Dial a Matic as the Convertible, and the US Convertible was the Senior in the UK. Because if there's a Junior, surely there's a Senior...

I like the power input of 840w, and it seems like it's quite powerful from what you said. No excuse at all for a 2kw motor!

I just absolutely get tempted by the betabars on the agitation. That cleaner surely beats... as it sweeps... as it cleans! Hope it isn't too noisy, but you're probably not too bothered about that.

mikanic, the vacuum isn’t noisy at all, it’s great and yes it definitely does beats and sweeps the carpet! But I’m planning on using hepa cloth bags instead of type D bags so it would have better airflow and hopefully strong suction too! Plus I’m planning on replacing the soft white brush strips with firm orange red brush strips for much better carpet grooming and performance. Greetings from the big D of Texas!!!
