So over the last couple of months I've picked up a few new machines, and today I decided to pull out the collection (that's currently in the house and not in storage), and take some pictures of it.
The machines I picked up that I'm most proud of are an Electrolux LX, Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition, and a Hoover Sprint. I currently have the LX in about two dozen pieces awaiting a restore. It runs and is mostly complete (aside from some attachments), but whoever dropped it off at the Western New York thrift store I bought it from bypassed the bag ejector by bungee-strapping the front shut and used it with a full bag until it burst open and continued to fill the entire thing with dirt. I haven't been able to complete the restore as I can't get the nut off the fans to completely disassemble the motor; I'll take another crack at it when I get some free time and the weather is nice. I got the Ultimate G And Sprint at the same time for $50 in total. I probably overpaid a bit, but the Ultimate G came with (almost) all the attachments and only needed a good clean. The Sprint intrigues me as, although I know Hoover made many "Elite-like" machines in the 90s, I've never seen one of these, and the internet doesn't lend much more information on it. If anyone knows anything about it, I'd love to learn more about it. If anyone has any questions, suggestions, or information about any of the machines in my collection, I'd love to hear it! -Kiyler CLICK HERE TO GO TO Rougemacintosh's LINK |

Thank you for the suggestion Billy! I will definitely have to pick some up and try it out; I'm really hoping I will be able to get it off non-destructively.
rivstg1, what do you mean by two-speed? Are you referring to the speed change when you attach the hose, or does it have a feature I am unaware of? And thank you for the info fan-of-fans. Do you have any idea what year or era it would have been from? Mid or late 90s? Just curious. Thanks for the replies! -Kiyler |

Rougemacintosh. yes, the Ultimate G Diamond Edition was the only Kirby to have a 2 speed option for using the power nozzle. There is a switch on the top left hand side of the vacuum case thats lit up green. When you press it it shuts down to like half speed...intended for delicate rugs/throw rugs etc.

Major facepalm! I had noticed that switch on the side of the machine, but for some reason assumed it was just an overload breaker, and didn't fiddle with it. In my defense I did read the manual, but I just realized the manual I found online is for the plain Ultimate G, not the Diamond Edition.
Thank you for pointing that out! Who knows if I would have ever figured that out. -Kiyler |
