So this was supposed to be a unboxing post but I was impatient but excited, so I have here is a Hoover Convertible model 728, I think this was made around 1971 to 1972/73, serial number is 15969. I’m this close to have exactly 50 vacuums! I always wanted one of these Convertibles like this model and with this old style hood that first introduced on the first Convertible vacuum, the model 65. Last week I saw this on eBay up for bidding starting $25 with $34 shipping. But last Tuesday, just 6 hrs till the bidding ends, there was one bid for $25 and I was like forget this. And that was the same day I happen to found the Hoover Dial a Matic Power Drive at Goodwill later that day! So now y’all wondering where I got this, well I got this from a vacuumland member, blackheart. He also had a video on YouTube demonstrating this vacuum and I was thinking that this vacuum needs some TLC. So I decided to buy it instead of passing it up. This Hoover isn’t bad as I was expected. Like the height adjustment, blackheart said the height adjustment is stubborn but it seems to do well for me. I’ll talk about more about the not so seriously bad flaws in a moment. One thing, this vacuum works great and sounds normal like a true classic!

The base is still in good shape, lil bit of scratches but no big deal at all. And the outer vinyl bag is in really great shape too! I’m using a type c bag but I’m going to use a Kirby micro magic hepa cloth bag for better filtration and airflow.

Here’s one of the flaws that one can be replaced and one that’s not bad. The rear tool converter door has a little crack and aged kinda rough so I happen to found one on eBay and this looks it can be easily removed and replaced! The headlight lens has a small crack but not very serious at all.

The part where the electrical tape is used to have duct tape and when was removing the duct tape it was so messy with sticky residue so I had clean my hands with goo gone and dawn soap to wash off. But had to use goo gone to clean off the area where the duct tape is. Electrical tape is much safer.

The handle grip is in nice shape too but it slides off when pulling the vacuum so I use super glue, the best for making vacuum handle grips stay in place!

I was the one that had the 728 on eBay that you were referring too! I'm glad you got another one. I've been selling quite a few lately. I'm enjoying the uncrowded empty space on the wall! lol.
