I have worked at 4 county mental health for just shy of 15 years. I LOVED my job for 10 of those years. The last 4.5 years however have been a challenge and everyone kept telling me to get out, Esspecially Shaylee. Well I finally did it. In an HR meeting I didn't like what she had to say and so she had to sit and listen to what I had to say. Rather loudly I might add. Felt so good! I have another full time job already lined up so I'm more than good. I went home and playes a little in my vacuum room to celebrate. My last day is the 27th.

That's how I would de-stress too! Sounds like you already have it worked out. Sometimes it's just amazing how things work out! My other two friends lost their jobs (we know one of them smile).  And they were able to find new jobs very quickly. Sounds it like it was fast turn around for you too, Phillip!

We need to have a mini-meet soon! Kenny

Good to get out of a bad situation.

Might it be stressful to still go there until the 27th?
I was told, years ago, in a seminary, "Never hang around people who don't believe in you, or where you're not appreciated". Wise words.

Isn't it awful to be in that situation?

We've all been there. I worked in schools that were awful, then, some were great.
Some bosses were excellent, a few were nuns. Others..............
Still, the torment, drudgery, anxiety. It's always great to rid yourself of toxic people and situations.

Good deal, Phillip

Glad to hear you got out of the negative situation.
Prayers and best wishes for you in the new (ish) job!

I know that the physical and emotional strain of my job is responsible for the majority of my health problems.
But I literally have zero prospects for anything better.
So I can really relate, and give you a lot of credit for getting yourself out of there.

Barry

Re-boot!

Hey Phillip!   Congrats, but so glad to know you had another position lined up FIRST!  I've known a few who made that critical gaffe and sadly, deeply, regretted it.  So yes, you are 'good to go!' and should celebrate!  Again, congratulations!  I just hope you will have Vaca time in June!!!  Your attendance is anticipated and required!!!

Vaca should not be a problem.

John, today all I could think Was why did I give them 2 more weeks lol. HR told me in a very snide tone. That I was expected to do my best these next 2 a weeks. Wow after all these years that's the respect I get from the HR devil. The same lady who was there 1t years ago when I was hired. Oh yes I made the right choice!

Sorry I missed your call today....

I am so proud of you for bettering yourself and your family, because you will all benefit from you being in a better place! You should tell the HR bitch in a few days, "ya know, I think I'm done here"! F**k her and 4 County...let them see what they'll get, and realize who they lost! Right on brotha!

Congratulations on bustin' a move. I hope your new position is everything you expect it to be. Like others, I'm very glad you were able to do it with a firm exit strategy in place. Finding new positions has always been a long and protracted process for me.

Phillip, good idea to get out of your job & move onto something better. If you were finding the mental health facility was getting harder to work for & your work conditions worsening, that's not a good thing.

Toxic & stressful work environments are never a good thing to have to endure....whether we admit it or not, we DO bring it home with us & let it impact our personal lives. There are people who claim "I can leave my work life at work"....yes, some people can do that but it's so much easier said than done! Especially if something negative has happened at work & you're worried about it. And we all know the negative health effects stress has on your physical & mental health.

I wish you the best of luck enduring the next 2 weeks & starting your new job. Hopefully your new work environment is much more pleasant for you.

Rob
