I just picked up a Heritage I , for the bag mainly, and a D80 which I don't know the year, maybe someone can identify from the tag? I"m getting my polishing skills up from my Classic I endeavor ( "new kirby haul" thread), so I"M excited about how I'll hopefully make this green cleaner look! I like the lighter weight of the older models....had my eye on a 516 but grabbed this instead. Most likely, I"ll convert it to a HEPA bag system from Legend II. This sight and all you knuckleheads have encouraged/motivated/inspired me to collect a ridiculous collection in about 2 months time or less, sheesh!!!! :-). I didn’t INTEND on buying so many of this shiny aluminum beasts….but I know have

Want a Tradition, probably a 500 series, and maybe an Avalir one day when they are cheap enough or I luck into one. Have a chance for a cheap Omega so I wouldn’t rule that out completely!lol. This is a sickness...

Congrats on the find! You have collected a nice array of machines spanning several of Kirby's "eras."

If you want to go the HEPA conversion route, I suggest you locate a green slide-top bag like the one the guy in the video below has. Otherwise, you may have to have a zipper stitched into an original bag or go with a mismatched jacket.

I *think* the slide-top green bags are aftermarket, but they are a terrific match. A quick search on eBay a few minutes ago did not reveal any for sale, but I'm sure you could find one without too much searching.

If you wanted to get really crazy, you could dye the bag in the eBay link green and fit the original bag chain and topper! The little colorful lines in the photo are not actually on the bag; they are simply watermarks the seller added to the photo.

Have fun!

I have a lot of Kirbys too! I always use them with their natural system, no aftermarket mods. When I was younger I stupidly tried to use a paper bag adapter for the Omega I had (and still have) and it choked off the airflow a lot and the vacuum performed like crap. Once I put the old bag back in, it was good as new.

Rivstg1, the Dual Sanitronic 80 was made from 1967 to 1969, yours doesn’t start with a letter on the serial number so yours was made in after May 1968 or to around 1969. Hopefully that helped you!
