I"m laughing at myself in a way, and my wife definitely thinks I"m excessive now...but as I've gotten into Kirby's, I"m vacuuming 2x- 3x times more often. Do any of you relate to this experience? Sure, if you get something you 'like', you'll use it more, of course, but, haha, I'm amazed at myself. I've had my Rainbow's for years so I cleaned more than most I"d say for sure, b/c I got satisfaction seeing what was picked up. I"ve bought 3 Kirbys this month and I guess I just like to 'try them out', rotating which I use. Anybody else experience this?

That has been my plan too, to rotate my collection around and use a different vacuum each week, or each few weeks. I have a corner in my kitchen at the top of the stairs that ever since the 80's has been "the vacuum corner" where the house vacuum is stored at. It kind of showcases the vacuum unintentionally when the door is closed, ends up making the vacuum a doorstop, and keeps it well ventilated so it doesn't smell, so its kind of the perfect location. I really want to get my Hoover 700 fixed up and make sure it's safe and healthy on its motor to use, and use that to clean with.

Sounds very similar to what I find myself doing every month. I used to just vacuum with one or two of my collection favorites (Usually my Sebo Felix and Riccar Premium Vibrance) and after “trying out” each of my new vacuums briefly, they would go into the spare bedroom “vacuum collection room” for safe storage.

Now, I find myself picking a new vacuum and using whatever strikes my fancy for that days cleaning. Oh and my partner also say’s I’m a bit obsessive, as I vacuum every day and sometimes more than once a day depending on how much Kermit our (Chihuahua Corgi) is shedding that day. LOL

Now for my bagged vacuum cleaners, I will choose one and use it until I fill the bag or reasonably fill the bag to the point I feel I can change and put in a new bag. That way I am not storing my bagged vacuums for any length of time with a dirty bag. I have over 100 of my vacuums in storage, boxed or bagged up nicely so they don’t get used in the current rotation, so I might change that when I re-organize them next month.

I also have had fun rotating use of my Dyson V8, Shark Ion Flex Duo Clean, Hoover REACT Cordless or my Riccar Cordless SupraLite Upright for everyday quick clean ups.

The only vacuums I do not use or keep in my rotation for daily use are my rare or hard to find vacuums or my collectibles that I bought just to own and keep unused and brand new. I have a Bissell Anna and it’s becoming quite a collectible since it’s been retired and I love my Dyson DC24 in the special edition Target store Red. I also (Try) to keep my Maytag M1200, M700, M500 and my newest M600 Cordless new and only used briefly when I bought them, simply because I love that Maytag started making upright vacuums again and I have all four available models. But I love them so much, it’s hard to not use them from time to time for fun.

Great thread and thanks for sharing Kelton, I don’t own a Rainbow (yet) but I do LOVE my Kirby Sentria 2 and love seeing how well it fluffs and grooms the nap of the carpet. I can easily go for several years of using a different vacuum cleaner each month with my collection and it’s a lot of fun to rotate them and change things up a bit for excitement.

Patrick

No more vacuuming for me.
It is still the same work that aggravates my arthritis and tendonosis issues.
I prefer to have my restored vacs out in the open on display in my 'living museum' of old restored stuff.
When it is vacuuming time (coming up very soon), I do enjoy the performance of them, and rotate them out. I do find it a bit silly though when I have to vacuum the dust off the vacuums that out are on display...

texaskirbyguy . I noticed your location, I'm from that general area, live mostly in Coloraod springs but come back for work purposes. I would love to come say hi and see your beautifully restored Kirby;s next time I"m in Dallas, would you be open to that? No worries if not, I lived there from 2000 to 2012 in Lewisville.

I never use any vacuums ...

That are NOT old and collectable, I really dislike anything newer than the 70s or very early 80s, Most of what I use is stuff from the 50s and 60s, I vacuum something every day, might be dusting, might be the kitchen, but I vacuum SOMETHING every day

I'd say my vacuuming habits are 1-2x a week normally, but when I get a new machine i'll use it fairly often for a while until I get kinda bored of it.

Right now i'm using my recently acquired Eureka 1934a It's not as good as my other Eureka, but it's interesting to re-experience the F+G setup since my other one is outfitted with ST bags.

I don't vacuum as much as I'd like to. Usually, I use my Eureka 1934A for carpet, love how light it is and it cleans well. Otherwise I usually use a a Kenmore canister for above floor or tile vacuuming, or sometimes carpets too.

I vacuum my 2 story 2400sqft house everyday with my rainbow SE which at the moment is in for service(probably from to much use)so I've been using my E-2 black. I'm a clean freak and hate dirt. I do have a cat(never again) and in the winter deal with woodstove dirt so vacuuming everyday is a most. Only rainbows allowed in this house. I do have a complete Kirby legend II but it sits in the closet because its to damn heavy.

I vacuum a few times a week, sometimes every day depending on how busy I am/how dirty the carpets are. The first thing I walked to as an infant was the vacuum cleaner so I have always vacuumed pretty often lol.

I keep around 5 or so vacuums at my house and I rotate through them, but my Princess III is my go-to for most tasks. Good filtration, decent attachments, long hose and cord. Sometimes I use my Princess hose with my Filter Queen when I'm doing more above floor cleaning since the Filter Queen has the high/low speed switch but the Princess hose is much longer than the FQ.

I use my Simplicity Synergy when I'm primarily doing the carpets, and I keep a Shark Powered Lift-Away near the cats' litter boxes to use around them. The Shark is the only vacuum I use in the room with the litter boxes, I got it refurbished for only 80 bucks and it's easy enough to clean when it inevitably smells like used cat litter. That was a task that I had previously delegated to a pretty basic Electrolux canister (2100 style but more bare-bones), but the cats knock so much litter out of the boxes that I figure a bagless is best. I also have a few unfinished projects laying around the house, like a half disassembled Fantom Thunder that's waiting on a new motor to be delivered.

I JUST left a customers home who had that/your vac (Lux Guardian Platimun) and educated them a bit on it from what I had read....then some on Rainbows and Kirby's. Her grandmother paid $3k for it and she got it when she passed. Wow!! Had no idea they could cost that much!

I didn't pay those sort of prices on my Lux.Glad I didn't the dealer gave me a good price on it.It is now my Go-to canister vacuum.Really like the Platinum.Next in line are my Sebo E and D canisters. Not all dealers charge the ridiculous prices.I know the man that runs the Lux place in Greenville. He works for both the New Bern and Greenville Lux places-so he travels a lot.He is looking for other goodies for me.Also I have bought other Lux vacuums from the man-a cordless Lux and a plug in version. These are like the Simplicity Freedom cordless and plug in Freedoms. And bought 3 air purifiers from him.So-he gives me a good price. The air purifiers work really well.A particle count meter in my home shows 0 most of the time.Vacuum the filters in the purifiers with the Lux Platinum-amazing the amount of fine dust the filters catch!
