Hi vacuum fans,

A while back I posted about some new old stock Fantom parts I procured. I bought a brushroll, a crevice tool, a dusting brush, a chassis, a filter housing, and a dirt tank. I was shocked that there was still an unused Fantom Thunder dirt tank out there and that I was the collector to stumble upon it. What luck!

Anyhow, a month or so ago I had an opportunity to install all of these new parts on my 1999 Thunder. With all these new parts I can get an idea of what this thing might have looked like when it was new.

There is one final improvement in store for this machine. I will be replacing the spindle-side motor bearing because I noticed that the original 19 year old bearing started to sound a bit rough. My new carpet seems to load up the brush/belt more than before and it seems that was a bit much for that nearly 20 year old grease to handle.

I'll likely do a "Broomvac's Guide to Bearings" thread in the next couple of months and will use my Fantom as an example. The Lamb Ametek motor in this vacuum will make a great example because its bearings are easy to replace.

Questions and comments welcome.

That looks very nice, reminds me of when I saw them at Kmart back then. Liked the purple tinted bin and esp the green headlight and bin of the Fury model.

These are nice vacuums for bagless and one I wouldn't mind having for a bagless.
