Recently, my friend Evan posted a throwback picture that showed him standing in his brand new to him vacuum store, that he bought from me, many years ago. I noticed the Miele Aquarius in the picture, brand new on the shelf, and I was filled with remorse that I never kept one when they were new.

When I sold my store to Even, I did keep the Gemini, but always kicked myself for not keeping the 'prettier' one.

This year, for my birthday, my wonderful husband decided to get me the Aquarius. On eBay was a slightly used example. It arrived a few days past my birthday (who cares?). I'm so lucky to have married such a wonderful man.

Here she is, standing next to the old Gemini that I've had for almost a decade now.

I'm thinking of redoing my kitchen in the Miele Aquarius turquoise color.

Here's the old Gemini, cleaning up after my 100 pound Border Collie, Missy Mae. She wasn't 100 pounds at the time this picture was taken years ago. Both the dog, and the Miele, are still going strong. Missy loved her string toys, so there was always a mess for me to clean up. Neither I, nor the Miele, ever minded.

Here's Evan, all those years ago, on his first day in his 'new to him' vac shop. And both the Gemini and Aquarius on the Miele shelves. I sold a TON of Miele canisters and Evan continues to sell and service them to this day.

It was this throwback picture that made me long for the turquoise Aquarius.

Hi Tom!

Happy belated birthday! Mine was April 19th and my Husbands birthday is this Sunday (27th)

What an awesome and thoughtful gift from your husband!! Mine is that way too.. he lovingly “puts up with” and respects my Vacuum collection.. which is around 250 vacuums now. It’s awesome we both have husbands that get our Vacuum passion!

I hope you had a wonderful, love filled birthday and again.. gorgeous Miele!!

Hugs and best birthday wishes from us to you both!

Patrick

I like that blue color, it's one of my top 3 favorites from these series of Miele canisters (Along with the black Callisto and the luna silver Capricorn).

Rather have that than my Capricorn

I don’t know if I’m buying another Miele anytime soon. It’s a lot of pretty Vacuum just to let my housekeeper bang it up. I won’t let her touch my Simplicity Wonder. The Capricorn is not pretty at all, after 12 years of abuse, but I don’t have any issues with the electronics or any sign of residual dust in the bag chamber. She’s still running clean and I NEVER got that from a “Hoovrah”!

HMMM-instead of the vacuum cleaner---GET RID of the abusive housekeeper!!!I consider them a liability I don't need.

Another thought about "housekeepers" if you must have one-have him or her provide their OWN equipment so they don't abuse yours.

Housekeeper's own equipment:

Noooooooooo!

I've seen what she uses for other customers and I think I'll pass on that. I'll take some of the blame for not correcting her habits. I travel for about 85% of my job and I was never there at the right moment to catch her in the act. The problem has since been remedied. She's been very impressed with Miele ever since I showed her the park feature with the hook at the end of the floor tool and the way that it will turn off the machine. She's STILL not ever getting her hands on my Simplicity Wonder.

when were these made

Does anyone know when the Aquarius and Gemini were made? I know before the current C1, C2 and C3 series there was the S2, S4, S5, S6 and S8 series, very similar but just different model numbers. I like my Miele C1 Olympus although when it comes to the German brands, I think Sebo is slightly better. My Olympus is a straight suction canister but pairing it up with the Volt is awesome, the Volt will give a straight suction canister abilities that it never could have on its own.
