And, that's just the point: None of us has exclusive rights. Certainly not about to get into a tizzy w/ anyone in here. I was making a point. I do believe, however, that The Tonight Show actually does have exclusive rights, as it were, to any film clips, footage, etc from their own show. Anyone who writes a book, also, along with the publisher, would have exclusive rights. For example, my own sister, ( a published author), has written two books. She DOES hold the exclusive rights to them. She and her publisher, had to be certain that all information in both books was accurate, correct, not false, etc, before said books went into production. And, all information, facts, references, etc, are correct. She lives in VA, and her publisher set up book signings/meet the author meetings in several cities. She even came back home here to host an even at a local bookstore. I have several copies of each. She actually signed a copy of each for me. They grace my bookcase to this day.If her information were false, untrue, etc, at all, she's have lost her credibility and would have been laughed out of town by those who'd know better. She certainly would have criticized by her peers in the literary world. They are books on business, real estate, etc.
Is that the focus to which you were referring? This post was last edited 04/21/2018 at 13:07 |

Did I miss something here? Did someone's feathers get ruffled? What is all this "exclusive rights" convo about? |

Among the items passed along to me by Mary Straus, owner of the Fox Theater, was boxes of Stan Kann's personal items. Included were his collection of the old VCCC's printed newsletters, many printed items on vacuums given to Stan by Charles L., his collection of instruction manuals and brochures, as well as VHS copies of many of his appearances on TV. My favorite was his 'filmed in Canada" TV show. He had one episode on VHS (the debut episode) with Dom DeLouise. He even had a copy of the Hoover movie "The Most Difficult Things" advertising the Hoover 541. He had several CD's of his music as well. They are all on display at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum in St. James, MO - as well as his vacuum collection, so the public can not only see his machines, but learn about the Man himself. And so he lives on.....
My favorite Stan Kann banter was on Mike Douglas's talk show. Stan had a 'weight reducing vacuum belt' attached to a Model B Rexair. He had asked a young Cher to demonstrate it while he turned the vacuum ON and then OFF after a minute: "Can you feel anything happening down there?" Cher to Stan: "I haven't felt anything down there in years". |
