I went to a second hand store today and saw this Royal, $25. Is it worth picking up? | ||

Absolutely As long as the motor runs and it has a brushroll, it’s worth every penny. I had one of those and then sold it for $100. Belts are also easy to find as well as bags. | ||

Karl,
Yes. A "non-drop-in" motor, as used on every Royal metal upright before 1995, is assembled more or less like a Kirby motor, utilizing a separate field and armature. Whereas, a drop-in motor used on all Royals since 1995 are not only more simplified (armature and field are self-contained), but are also quite loud! ~Ben | ||

Karl... That Royal is an excellent cleaning machine. I am sure you will enjoy it.
With some work and elbow grease you ca get it looking like my 2008 Royal Everlast 8300 pictured here:
