It is very hush hush at the moment by I have it on very good authority that Dyson are to release their very first bagged upright. Yes that's correct a BAGGED upright. You heard it here first.

It still based on the ball design but it has a soft bag very much like the Riccar Supralite it will also be cordless.

I'm told it will be released sometime in June and will be called The Ball Bag.

But I like to imagine the commercial.
"You wouldn't throw tash in your trash can with out a bag would you? Long gone are the days of messy bagless vacuums. Introducing the new and innovative Dyson Ball Bag with its unique and innovative disposable bag system that makes disposal a breeze and with our patented bag material there will be no loss of suction. [Screen turns white with a small Dyson logo in the middle]"

Funny thing is that the bagged Dyson would be much more powerful than the bagless. It would have a whole a lot more airflow than Dyson vacuums ever had. No more cyclones restricting the airflow.
My DC40 can pull 104 cfm from the ball, but after the cyclones it drops to the 55 cfm. Bagged Dyson could easily have 70-80 cfm.

I was secretly hoping these news were real :D

That is very true Mike but many falsely believe bagless are better. Sadly due to Sir James there are very few bagged uprights available in the UK now.😭

Quick thought.

Jokes aside would it be possible to modify or make a Dyson dust bin to work with bags?

Oh, I saw that video. Conan is really some else.

With heavy modification, You could probably fit a dust bag in a Dyson. It would probably increase airflow too. It would involve completely gutting the entire cyclone assembly, though.

Maybe 3D printed?

It seems like it would be a matter getting the right dimensions to fit into the Dyson nicely and place hole to fit the bag onto will be the biggest issue right? Well that and the cost...

I just think it would be an interesting project.

I am going to try to make my DC40 bagged. I have spare bin so I can keep it original if it doesn't work.
- remove the cyclone system from the bin.
- make a openable lid for the bin.
- where the dirt enters the bin bag holder mod needed.
- put flat pre motor filter in bottom of the bin.
Now we have Bagged Dyson.

Here is airflow tests with the DC40.
- all cyclones 62 cfm
- single cyclone 76 cfm
- motor 104 cfm

When the bag holder is in place the single cyclone stops and air goes straight to the bag and then to the motor.
In that case airflow should be well over 80 cfm

I suppose that one of the easiest Dysons to convert to a bagged machine, might have been the DC01 or the DC04. The cyclone assembly seemed to totally detach from the grey shell quite simply, as did the bin inner core.

The awkward part might be creating an adapter to fit the tangential bin port entering the bin assembly.
